All New Ford Mustang Here is Late 2023
Like the current model, the All New Ford Mustang comes in a coupé or convertible, with a V8 or 2.3L Ecoboost.
The looks have stayed close to the outgoing car. In fact you might be forgiven for thinking it is a heavy makeover. The front end looks familiar, yet different. Headlights have 3 cells and DTRLs flanking a complex grille in 2 designs, one each for the 4-cylinder and V8 models.
But it is the inverted wedge indentation across the back that gives the new car a sense of something special and different. It keeps 2 sets of Tri-lights, but has angles and curves, with a low centre reverse light, and quad exhausts.
Inside, the cabin quality has been lifted, and a curved display contains both driver data, and the centre touch screen with SYNC 4. Ford claims they “take advantage of every pixel,” allowing drivers to customise the look and feel, as well as data and how it is delivered.

The 2 screens are behind a single piece of glass, and drivers can choose to be deluged by information, or to have a “calm screen.”
The flat bottom steering wheel eschews the slightly cheap look of the predecessor.
There is a manual hand brake, dual cup holders, and a wireless Qi pad sitting with the gear selector proudly amidships. For those with a taste for the good things in life, B&O sound delivers the driver’s favourites tunes with Apple CarPlay/Android auto inbuilt. There is no word as to whether it is wireless or not.
Ford claims the roofline is designed to allow drivers to enter and exit without removing their helmets. They assume a certain segment will desire track-day excitement.
The convertible roof retains the centre latch, something we had hoped would be gone. It also has the plastic covers that hide the inner workings
The 4th Gen Coyote V8 is said to be the most powerful ever, sending power to the back through a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic. Drive modes include Normal, Sport, Slippery, Drag, Track plus a customisable setting with up to six individual profiles. Expect power figures closer to launch.
Manual GT models have rev-matching that holds revs while the clutch is used.
Finally, All New Mustang will have Adaptive Cruise with a traffic assist function (on automatic models), Lane centering, Evasive Steer Assist and Reverse Brake Assist.
Australian buyers can expect the new Mustang to land sometime late in 2023.
