The all-new BMW 2 Series Coupé was revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed amd will be in Australia by the end of 2021.
The new 2-series will have a BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine and xDrive all-wheel-drive on top models. It is 12 per cent more rigid than the old model, and has a 50:50 weight distribution. BMW claims better handling, better ride and more comfort.
Outisde:
Some will love the looks, some won’t. Apart from that, the BMW 2 Series is 4,537mm long, and 1,838mm which is 105mm and 64mm up on the old model model. It is 28mm lower, 1,390mm high, meaning the low, wide coupe, looks just a little meaner. Cabin comfort increased with the wheelbase, which is now 51mm longer at 2,741mm.
Finally, Track widths of 1,575mm (an increase of 54mm) at the front axle and 1,587mm (an increase of 31mm) at the rear axle (BMW M240i xDrive Coupé: +63mm at the front; +35mm at the rear) have added to better handling.
The flared wheel arches, bonnet, bonnet bulge, and distinctive BMW kidney grille look and feel like a nod to the storpier 2002 coupes of old. Full-LED headlights are standard, and have been pushed out to the very corners of the front end. Although standard on much cheaper cars, BMW has chosen to keep Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling High Beam Assistant will be standard on the M240i xDrive but an expensive option for the 220i. Darkened rear lights look slightly awkward, but provide a nice light show as dusk falls.
