DESIGN
Exteriors
When Jeep introduced the current generation Grand Cherokee it quickly impressed customers with its cohesive upscale design that was still able to convey the rugged capability expected of a Jeep vehicle. The new Grand Cherokee builds on this success, retaining Jeep’s classic seven-slot grille and trapezoidal wheel arches while conveying an even higher level of opulence and strength.
All trim levels on the new Grand Cherokee have been given a more premium look and are readily identifiable at a glance. On all models, the signature seven-slot grille is shorter in height, the headlights are slimmer and the lower front fascia has been slightly elevated, while the fog lights have been raised and are more pronounced. Together, these changes give the front of the Grand Cherokee a more elegant, sportier appearance while still preserving Jeep’s signature features.
The main design enhancement for the new Grand Cherokee are the new high-intensity discharge (HID) bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRL), which are fitted as standard on all models and create a distinctive design cue that is instantly recognisable as part of the Chrysler Jeep family. The SRT model features adaptive HID bi-xenon headlamps with LED lighting.
The rear of the new Grand Cherokee has also received a host of detailed changes and boasts new, larger tail lamps with LED lighting, a larger and more aerodynamic rear spoiler, new bumpers and a re-sculpted tailgate that offers greater visibility. A more pronounced Jeep badge is now found directly on the tailgate between the tail lamps. Lower rear fascias are now model-specific, while dual exhaust tips are now standard on Limited and Overland models.
Fresh alloy wheel designs and new interior/exterior colour combinations complete the main styling upgrades found on the new Grand Cherokee, further enhancing its refined, premium appearance.
Grand Cherokee Laredo exteriors are identified by body-colour side mirrors and door handles. The grille receives a chrome headlight treatment, while the rear fascia features the new signature tail lamp design. Laredo models ride on standard twin-spoke-design five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels finished in Satin Chrome.
Grand Cherokee Limited models add to the Laredo look with bright door handles and a chrome trimmed dual exhaust outlet. An all-new chrome trim also outlines the lower front fascia opening and the rear bumper. Limited models showcase polished 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with Mineral Grey painted pockets, which are also fitted to Overland models.
Grand Cherokee Overland features several body-colour design cues including the lower fascia trim on the front and rear of the vehicle. The body-colour trim carries over to the wheel arches and wheel surrounds, while the lower rocker panels also receive a body colour treatment.
In line with its sporty character, the new Grand Cherokee SRT features a black, seven-slot front grille and adaptive bi-xenon headlamps with a unique black grille-style surround to distinguish the SRT from other Grand Cherokee models. This unique black treatment highlights the aggressive appearance of the SRT model.
The black front treatment is mirrored on the rear of the vehicle with the signature LED tail lamps also featuring a black surround to further emphasise the SRT’s performance credentials. A new, more aerodynamically efficient rear spoiler has been integrated into the all-new, one-touch electronically-operated liftgate, which is adorned with a new SRT badge.
Exclusive to SRT are standard 20-inch Goliath polished alloy wheels in a bold five-spoke design, while aggressive 20-inch split five-spoke Spider Monkey design alloy wheels are available as an option on the SRT.

The Grand Cherokee SRT model offers an exclusive leather interior in two distinctive colours combinations – Black Nappa leather with perforated suede and light slate grey accent stitching as standard and all-new Laguna leather with perforated suede in Sepia with silver accent stitching as an option. Both leather trim combinations are matched with carbon fibre trim adorning the instrument panel and doors.
The SRT interior is further distinguished by a unique heated three-spoke steering wheel with a race-inspired flat bottom and more pronounced, ergonomically efficient paddle shifters.
POWERTRAIN
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee range offers a choice of four key powertrains: the three-time Ward’s 10 Best Engines-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar V6, the efficient 3.0-litre direct-injection common rail turbo diesel V6, the legendary 5.7-litre V8 and the powerful 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine that powers the high-performance SRT model.
All petrol engines available on the new Grand Cherokee meet Euro 6 emission standards.
New eight-speed automatic transmission
A new eight-speed automatic transmission is the headline feature of the new Grand Cherokee range and is fitted across the entire model line-up, pairing with both the 3.0-litre diesel and 3.6-litre petrol V6 engines, as well as both V8 engine offerings.
The 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine is paired with the 845RE eight-speed transmission, which is based on the ZF-designed and built 8HP45 unit, but is built by under license by Chrysler at the company’s Kokomo Transmission Plant in Indiana.
The 3.0-litre diesel V6, 5.7-litre V8 and 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engines are all paired to the higher-torque-handling 8HP70 eight-speed transmission, which is built by ZF in Germany. The new transmissions ensure reduced fuel consumption and emissions, while delivering quicker acceleration and precise, smooth shifting, enhancing overall vehicle quality to luxury car levels.
Several individual shift maps adapt to specific driving conditions to optimise shift quality – intelligent software takes into account variables including engine torque gradients, kick-down events, longitudinal and lateral acceleration, grade changes, friction detection and downshift detection to determine the appropriate shift map. The result is automatic shifting ideally attuned to the performance requirements of almost any driving demand, with an eye to fuel economy.
Fully electronic, the eight-speed automatic features on-the-fly shift map changing, with manual shifting capability and Electronic Range Select using steering-wheel paddle controls.
The transmission efficiency and wide ratio spread provide the best possible fuel economy by operating at a lower engine rpm in both city and highway environments. The addition of more gear ratios also helps reduce the gaps normally associated with upshifting and downshifting.
The main touch point for the new eight speed transmission is a new electronic T-handle shifter, which provides flexibility for the driver to choose between Drive and Sport transmission shift schedules via the T-handle.
On the SRT model, the new electronic T-handle shifter provides flexibility for the driver to choose a transmission shift schedule independent of the Selec-Track system. Drive and Sport shifting can be selected via the T-handle with no effect on the chosen suspension, stability control and driveline torque split settings.
Internally, the transmission has four gear sets and five shift elements (multi-disc clutches and brakes). Only two shift elements are open at any time. With fewer open shift elements, drag losses due to multiple parts rotating relative to one another are reduced, improving fuel efficiency.
An additional benefit is a lower crawl ratio of 44.1:1 to aid in climbing over – or through – tough obstacles, when equipped with a two-speed transfer case.
New Launch Control system
Also new for Grand Cherokee and exclusive to the SRT model is the Launch Control system, which has been paired to the new eight-speed automatic transmission. Launch Control mimics a professional driver’s inputs to optimise the SRT’s performance by bringing engine, transmission, driveline, stability control and suspension in line for a textbook launch. Controlled by a button located behind the new T-handle shifter on the centre console, it delivers enhanced and more consistent straight-line acceleration.
The performance experience of the new SRT is further accentuated by a change in transfer case proportioning and dynamic controls for the Selec-Track system when the vehicle is in Track Mode. When this mode is selected, 70 per cent of available engine torque is delivered to the rear wheels for a more pronounced rear-wheel-drive experience. Grand Cherokee SRT drivers will notice a vehicle that is more responsive from mid-corner to exit.
3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine
The award-winning 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine continues as the standard engine for the new Grand Cherokee range. It features double overhead camshafts (DOHC), a high-pressure die-cast aluminium cylinder block in a 60-degree configuration and Variable Valve Timing (VVT) to produce 210 kW of power at 6,350 rpm and 347 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm.
Combined with the new eight-speed automatic transmission, it delivers combined cycle fuel consumption of 10.1 L/100km on Laredo 4×2 and 10.4 L/100km on other Grand Cherokee 4×4 models (Laredo, Limited and Overland) – the latter representing an improvement of 5.4 per cent.
3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 engine
The new Grand Cherokee is available with the latest iteration of the efficient 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 engine, which now produces maximum power of 184 kW at 4,000 rpm and peak torque of 570 Nm at 2,000 rpm, which is 20 Nm more than the previous model and accessible almost 30 per cent lower in the rev range (previously 550 Nm at 2,800 rpm).
Combined with the new eight-speed transmission, fuel economy for the combined cycle is 7.5 L/100km, which represents a 10 per cent improvement in comparison to the previous model, despite the increases in power and torque.
Compact and lightweight, the 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine features a 1,800-bar common-rail fuel injection system, a compressed graphite iron 60-degree block with aluminium cylinder heads and a two-piece structural aluminium oil pan. The cylinder heads are constructed of aluminium and feature a chain-driven, dual overhead-camshaft design with four valves per cylinder, while cast-iron exhaust manifolds have been utilised.
Additional emissions controls include a close-coupled diesel oxidation catalyst and standard diesel particulate filter. Euro 5+ emissions are met through an exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR) system that includes an EGR valve with DC motor and a high-performance EGR cooler with bypass valve.
5.7-litre V8 engine with Multi-Displacement System (MDS)
In addition to the Pentastar V6 petrol engine, the new Grand Cherokee is available with the legendary 5.7-litre V8 engine featuring VVT and Multi-Displacement System (MDS) Fuel Saver Technology.
The 5.7-litre V8 engine delivers 259 kW of power at 5,200 rpm and 520 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. With MDS now coupled to the new eight-speed automatic transmission, combined cycle fuel efficiency has improved by almost eight per cent compared to the previous model to 13.0 L/100 km.
The 5.7-litre engine’s fuel-saving cylinder deactivation technology deactivates four cylinders (1, 4, 6 and 7) during steady-speed cruising, low acceleration and shallow grade climbing conditions. The system seamlessly alternates between smooth, efficient four-cylinder mode when less power is needed and V8 mode when more power is in demand, thereby optimising fuel economy without sacrificing overall vehicle performance or capability.
6.4-litre HEMI® V8 engine with Fuel Saver Technology
The Grand Cherokee SRT is fitted with the proven and powerful 6.4-litre Hemi V8 engine equipped with Fuel Saver Technology, which produces 344 kW of power at 6,250 rpm and 624 Nm of torque at 4,100 rpm to deliver benchmark SRT performance.
Fuel Saver Technology on the Hemi V8 engine optimises fuel efficiency and reduces emissions by alternating between a four-cylinder mode when less power is needed and a V8 mode when more power is in demand.
New Eco Mode
The new Grand Cherokee features a new ‘Eco Mode’ that contributes to improved fuel efficiency. Eco Mode optimises the transmission’s shift schedule as well as throttle sensitivity to maximise fuel economy. Eco Mode is automatically engaged upon vehicle start-up – a button on the centre stack allows the driver to disengage Eco Mode if sportier performance is desired.
In addition, Eco Mode activates Aero Mode in the Quadra-Lift air suspension system, if fitted, to further enhance the vehicle’s aerodynamics, delivering optimum fuel efficiency.
In V8 models, Eco Mode works in concert with the Fuel Saver cylinder deactivation Technology to further optimise fuel economy – this technology engages efficient four-cylinder mode when V8 power is not required.

ENGINEERING
4×4 systems
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee offers three distinct 4×4 systems: Quadra-Trac II, Quadra-Drive II with rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential (ELSD) and the exclusive-to-SRT, Quadra-Trac active on-demand four-wheel-drive system, also featuring rear ELSD.
Quadra-Lift air suspension, which is standard on Overland and optional on Laredo and Limited models, enables the ride height of the Grand Cherokee to be raised to a maximum ground clearance of 287 mm. These systems allow the new Grand Cherokee to deliver legendary Jeep capabilities, as well as the safety of the four-wheel drive when travelling on poor grip on-road surfaces.
Quadra-Trac II full-time four-wheel drive system features a two-speed transfer case that implements Brake Traction Control System (BTCS) on the front and rear axle for superior off-road performance. The two-speed transfer case uses inputs from a variety of sensors to determine tyre slip at the earliest possible moment and take corrective action.
The system also uses ‘Throttle Anticipate’ to sense quick movement in the throttle from a stop and maximises traction before tyre slippage occurs. When wheel slippage is detected, as much as 100 per cent of the available torque is instantly routed to the axle with the most traction.
The system operates in two ranges – in 4WD High, torque is automatically directed to the front and rear axle at a variable rate; when switching to 4WD Low, using the console-mounted switch, the system splits the torque with a 50/50 ratio between the front and rear axles. With a 2.72 gear reduction ratio, the 4WD Low setting provides the unsurpassed tractive performance that is necessary in extreme off-road conditions.
Quadra-Trac II is fitted as standard equipment on Laredo 4×4 and Limited models.
The new Grand Cherokee Overland models are fitted with Quadra-Drive II four-wheel drive system. Featuring a rear Electronic Limited-slip Differential (ELSD), Quadra-Drive II delivers industry-leading tractive capability and off-road performance. The core of the system is the central transfer case and an electronically controlled clutch pack for active torque distribution.
On dry pavement and in normal tractive conditions, the central transfer case splits 48 per cent of the available torque to the front axle and 52 per cent to the rear axle. In case of slippery surfaces, the system automatically redirects engine torque between the front and rear axles based upon real-time driving conditions, providing the vehicle with responsive tractive performance.
The system also uses electronic controls that multiply traction on the four wheels and help avoid losses of grip in case of sudden acceleration. The system includes 4WD High and 4WD Low ranges, with 4WD Low offering a 2.72 gear reduction ratio for extreme off-road conditions.
Via the rear Electronic Limited-Slip Differential (ELSD), Quadra-Drive II instantly detects rear tyre slip and smoothly distributes torque across the axle. In some cases, the vehicle will anticipate low traction and adjust in order to proactively limit or eliminate slip.
The Grand Cherokee SRT features standard Quadra-Trac active on-demand four-wheel-drive transfer case. This 4×4 system uses input from a variety of sensors in order to determine tyre slip and take the corrective action.
The system uses ‘Throttle Anticipate’ to sense quick movement in the throttle from a stop and maximises traction before slippage occurs. When tyre slippage is detected, the system can transfer up to 100 per cent of available torque to one rear wheel with better grip. The transfer case also enhances handling by proportioning torque between the front and rear axles to maintain the driver’s intended path.
The new Grand Cherokee SRT also features Brake Traction Control System (BTCS) on the front differential and a rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential (ELSD). ELSD contributes to eliminate rear wheel slip and distributes torque to the wheel with grip, improving vehicle handling.
Quadra-Lift air suspension
Enhanced on-road dynamics and benchmark off-road capability deliver optimum ride performance whether driving on the road or mastering bush trails off the road.
The new Grand Cherokee uses an array of sophisticated systems, including Quadra-Lift air suspension, Selec-Terrain traction control and new Selec-Speed Control to achieve this result.
Grand Cherokee Overland models feature standard Quadra-Lift air suspension, which operates automatically to institute certain ride height conditions, but can also be adjusted manually by the driver using the console controls. The Quadra-Lift system provides five height settings for optimum ride performance:
- Normal Ride Height (NRH): This is the standard ride height position with 221 mm of ground clearance that provides the ideal blend of improved fuel efficiency and maximum comfort during on-road driving.
- Off Road 1: This setting lifts the vehicle an additional 33 mm from NRH to reach a ground clearance of 254 mm, giving added height for clearing off-road obstacles.
- Off Road 2: This setting ensures legendary Jeep off-road capability by adding an extra 66 mm to NRH and reaching the maximum ground clearance of 287 mm.
- Park Mode: This setting lowers the vehicle by 40 mm from NRH for easy occupant ingress/egress and loading. NRH and Park Mode can be selected by the driver, allowing full control over vehicle ride height.
- Aero Mode: This setting lowers the vehicle by 15 mm from NRH. Aero Mode is controlled by vehicle speed and perfectly adjusts the aerodynamics for optimal performance and fuel economy. The vehicle was also lower into Aero Mode when the transmission is in Sport Mode.
When powertrain ‘Eco Mode’ is active, the vehicle is lowered to Aero Mode level to further enhance the Grand Cherokee’s aerodynamics for optimum fuel efficiency.
Quadra-Lift air suspension adds up to 106 mm of lift supported by four-corner air springs that provide cushioned, premium ride comfort.
With the front air dam removed and Quadra-Lift air suspension fitted, the new Grand Cherokee features a 35.8-degree approach angle, a 29.6-degree departure angle and a 23.5-degree breakover angle.
Selec-Terrain traction control system
In addition to the Quadra-Lift air suspension, the Grand Cherokee’s class-leading Selec-Terrain traction management system allows customers to choose the on- and off-road setting for optimum performance.
Standard on all Laredo 4×4, Limited and Overland models, the Selec-Terrain traction control system allows the driver to choose the most suitable driving mode to safely tackle any surface.
Through the use of algorithms that enable unsurpassed control and capability, Selec-Terrain electronically coordinates and optimises up to 12 different powertrain, braking and suspension systems to provide enhanced vehicle control on any terrain.
The Selec-Terrain system has been refined on the new Grand Cherokee and offers five different driving programs to achieve the best driving experience on all terrains.
- Auto: The system automatically adapts to any on- or off-road situation.
- Sand: Traction Control and Quadra-Lift operate with sensitive response to wheel spin, while torque is tuned for optimal performance in sand.
- Snow: Traction is adjusted for ultimate performance over snow-covered roads.
- Mud: Traction Control and Quadra-Lift operate with sensitive response to wheel spin, while torque is tuned for optimal performance in mud.
- Rock: Quadra-Lift air suspension (where fitted) raises to the maximum height of 287 mm, while the transfer case, differentials and throttle coordinate to provide maximum low-speed control.
Sport Mode, previously found on the Selec-Terrain controller, is now engaged via the transmission shift lever and provides enhanced on-road ‘fun-to-drive’ capability.
Standard on all Grand Cherokee models except SRT, the sophisticated Selec-Terrain system has been further enhanced through the introduction of the new Selec-Speed Control when in combination with the Off-Road package.
New Selec-Speed Control with Hill Ascent and Hill Descent Control allows the driver to control the speed of the vehicle, both uphill and downhill, by using the steering wheel paddle shifters without the need to use the throttle or brake pedals.
Selec-TrackTM system
The Selec-Track system is fitted exclusively to the Grand Cherokee SRT model. This system interacts with several different systems (stability control, active damping, transmission shift strategy, transfer case torque proportioning, Electronic Limited Slip Differential performance, throttle control and cylinder de-activation) to automatically tune the dynamics of the vehicle according to the driers’ habits and current driving conditions.
The driver can manually choose between the following dynamic modes – Auto, Sport, Track, Tow and Snow – for specific driving performances. On the new SRT model, software improvements to Selec-Track further distinguish the five dynamic modes, enabling drivers to choose a vehicle setting that more closely meets their requirements and ambient conditions.
Drivers will find the torque split change in Track Mode provides a vehicle that is more responsive from mid-corner to exit and one that delivers faster lap times at their favorite track.
On-road refinement
Jeep Grand Cherokee is widely known for its outstanding on-road driving dynamics and refinement, thanks in part to its front and rear independent suspension. The independent front and rear suspension features isolated front and rear suspension cradles along with variable-rate rear springs to deliver improved on-road handling and comfort, while complementing the vehicle’s legendary off-road capability.
Premium on-road manners are enhanced with more than 5,400 welds in the body alone, while the rear suspension also allows the spare tyre to be stored inside the vehicle as opposed to underneath.
The Grand Cherokee’s steering has also been carefully calibrated to provide the optimum level of assistance whether cruising the parking lot or negotiating a twisty mountain road. Electrohydraulic power assistance is used on Diesel and Pentastar V6 models.
The Grand Cherokee SRT rides on a short- and long-arm (SLA) independent front suspension with coil springs, Bilstein Adaptive Damping Suspension (ADS), upper- and lower-control arms (“A” arms), and a stabiliser bar. The rear suspension is a multi-link design with coil springs, Bilstein ADS, aluminium lower control arm, independent upper links (tension and camber), plus a separate toe link, and a stabiliser bar.
The SRT-tuned, active ADS is managed by the Selec-Track system.

The new Grand Cherokee continues to offer state-of-the-art safety and security features that highlight the technological innovation that is deep-rooted in the DNA of the Jeep flagship.
In addition to its standard safety equipment, including Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Electronic Rollover Mitigation (ERM), ABS with off-road calibration, Brake Traction Control System (BTCS) and seven airbags (advanced multi-stage driver and front passenger, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags for front and rear occupants, driver knee airbag), the new Grand Cherokee offers upgraded Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, ParkView rear back up camera with dynamic grid, ParkSense park assist system and new Selec-Speed Control with Hill Ascent Control and Hill Descent Control, assisting the driver when climbing and descending steep grades.
Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation: this device uses radar sensors to check whether the vehicle is approaching the car in front too rapidly and, if necessary, sends a signal to the driver so they can intervene to avoid a collision. FCW is now updated to brake automatically and hold brake pressure for 1.5 seconds if the driver does not immediately take the corrective action necessary to prevent the collision with the vehicle in front.
In addition, if the driver is not applying enough braking force, Advanced Brake Assist (ABA) cooperates with the system, to increase the braking and avoid or mitigate the impact. This last feature of the system activates only when the driver acts on the brake and ABA intervention is cancelled if the driver removes their foot from the brake.
Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation is included in the Advanced Safety Technology Group that is standard on Overland and SRT models.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): This system decreases the vehicle’s pre-set cruise-control speed when closing in on another vehicle in the same lane, or when another vehicle pulls into the same lane. ACC will accelerate to the pre-set speed when the vehicle in front speeds up or moves into another lane. The system will also maintain a driver adjustable distance between the vehicle and the one in front of it and is particularly useful when driving in adverse meteorological conditions or in situations of reduced visibility. On the Overland and SRT models, ACC is included in the standard Advanced Safety Technology Group.
ParkView rear back-up camera with dynamic grid: Provides a wide-angle view of the area immediately behind the vehicle, assisting the driver before and during reversing at low speeds. It contains dynamic grid lines that follow the steering movements and move accordingly in order to aid the driver when manoeuvring into parking spaces or narrow areas. The image is displayed on the Uconnect touchscreen display when the transmission is shifted into Reverse.
Selec-Speed Control: This new device operates with the Hill Ascent Control and Hill Descent Control functions to allow the driver to control the speed of the vehicle, both uphill and downhill, using the steering wheel paddle shifters instead of requiring the use of the accelerator or brake pedals.
Selec-Speed Control is part of the Off-Road Adventure Group that is available as a package option on Laredo, Limited and Overland 4×4 models.
QUALITY
Improving the most awarded SUV ever
How do you improve the most awarded SUV ever? The Jeep team started by listening to its customers.
“We’re extremely happy with the long list of product and quality accolades the Jeep Grand Cherokee has earned,” said Doug Betts, Senior Vice President – Quality, Chrysler Group LLC.
“But the most important feedback comes from customers telling us what they’d like to see improved, so we are constantly looking at feedback and responding with improvements.”
Key upgrades for the new Grand Cherokee include an eight-speed automatic transmission to improve performance and fuel economy, plus the latest Uconnect system, which balances advanced technology and connectivity features with easy-to-use controls and voice commands.
Other upgrades include a redesigned steering wheel that is optimised for driving position while also providing control buttons for frequently-used features such as radio, cruise control, phone and voice-activated commands. Customer feedback helped designers and engineers determine the ideal location for fingertip controls so that drivers could comfortably keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
The availability of the new Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen is a significant change for the new Grand Cherokee. Connectivity and touchscreens involve rapidly changing technology and ever-increasing consumer expectations – both of which have a significant impact on the overall quality assessment of new vehicles.
The Uconnect team constantly evaluates consumer feedback, placing a high priority on designing systems that are intuitive for both tech-savvy customers, as well as tech-averse drivers who prefer hard knobs to adjust the climate or radio station.
For the past two years, Jeep Grand Cherokee has earned the title as the Total Quality leader for the US medium-size SUV segment by Strategic Vision. The honour is based on new vehicle owner surveys that holistically assess consumers’ good and bad experiences with their new vehicle.
Similarly, the Jeep team values all comments from customers – especially feedback that leads to enhanced quality and customer satisfaction.

MANUFACTURING
Built in Detroit
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee is built at the 3-million-square-foot Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP) in Detroit, which has been the site of Grand Cherokee production since its introduction in 1992.
Beginning in October 2009, in preparation for production of the present generation of Jeep Grand Cherokee, JNAP went through a complete transformation as part of World Class Manufacturing (WCM), an extensive and thorough process aiming at restoring the facility to its original and maximum functionality.
JNAP employees began planning and executing hundreds of projects aimed at improving the work environment, maximising quality, minimising waste and preparing for the new product. They made significant changes in workplace organisation and logistics systems, found ways to improve quality and addressed ergonomic issues.
The first unit of the current generation of Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled off the line at JNAP in May 2010.
