Nissan’s X-Trail Range Toppers to Be Electric, with a catch

All-new X-trail arrives soon, but will be later joined by a uniquely powered electric/ICE combination. Called e-POWER with e-4ORCE AWD, the new arrive early 2023.

The flagship X-Trails will have X-Trail Ti and Ti-L trim levels, the Ti e-POWER with e-4ORCE ($54,190 MSRP*), and the top-of-the-range X-Trail Ti-L e-POWER with e-4ORCE ($57,190 MSRP*). This is a $4200 premium over the equivalent ICE-powered variants, both with five-seat capacitiess.

The X-Trail Ti e-POWER with e-4ORCE fcomes with:

• Smart Rear View Mirror
• tri-zone climate control
• Adaptive Driving Beam
• auto wipers

The X-Trail Ti-L e-POWER with e-4ORCE adds:

• heated steering wheel
• Bose 10-speaker sound system
• full Nappa leather seating with memory seat function
• rear sunshades
• hands-free rear tailgate
• heated rear outboard seats
• remote engine start and more.

“With the X-Trail Ti and Ti-L e-POWER with e-4ORCE models, luxury and efficiency arrive hand in hand, combining the best design, safety, comfort and convenience features with Nissan’s advanced electrification technology to deliver an EV-like drive experience and incredible efficiency,” says Nissan Australia Managing Director, Adam Paterson.

Although a type of hybrid system drives these models, it differs from other brands in that the

e-POWER provides an EV-like drive experience because the wheels are only ever powered by electric motors. The system uses a high-output 1.8kWh battery with a petrol engine, power generator, inverter and twin electric motors.  With 150kW front axle, and 100kW at the rear axle the system is configured for a total output of 157kW. Although you never need to plug in to a power outlet, you will need to fill the petrol tank up, and economy is 6.1L/100km (combined).^#

The turbocharged petrol engine runs range-extender-style, to charge the battery, then the electric motors via an inverter. The e-4ORCE twin-motor all-wheel drive system is said to promise grip and performance without compromise.

Deliveries of the Nissan X-Trail e-Power with e-4ORCE will commence in early 2023.
