BMW will bring nine 8 Series Heritage Editions to Australia which will be delivered in Q4 this year.
These special 8-Series pay tribute to the 8 Series luxury sport grand tourer we saw in Australia around 30 years ago. BMW isn’t mucking around with the 8-Series, and it will come only in the 840i powertrain, in three body styles: Coupé, Gran Coupé and Convertible.
Power is from the BMW TwinPower Turbo in-line six-cylinder with 250kW/500Nm, rear wheels through an eight-speed Steptronic Sports automatic transmission.

They’ll come with upgrades such as an M Sport differential, adaptive M suspension and M Sport brakes across all three body styles.
The BMW 8 Series are built around a BMW Carbon Core. Carbon fibre used in the chassis reduces weight, lowers the centre of gravity, and makes the body extremely strong and rigid for better handling.
Standard interior fitments include: full leather Merino upholstery, the instrument panel and upper door trim finished in ‘Walknappa’ leather, active seat ventilation, seat heating, heated armrests, soft-close doors, and finally, a 464-watt harmon/kardon surround sound system.
Standard driver assistance features include
- BMW Head-Up Display,
- Driving Assistant Professional
- Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go,
- Steering and Lane Control Assistant – and
- Parking Assistant Plus. The latter includes
- Active Park Distance Control,
- Reversing Assistant and 3D view
The interior of each vehicle will carry an ‘Edition Heritage – 1/9’ badge on the centre console.
The cabin has more exclusive appointments such as BMW CraftedClarity Glass application for the BMW controller, engine start/stop button and gear selector, and BMW Individual Piano Finish Black interior trim. The M headliner in Alcantara Anthracite will also be standard for the 840i Coupé and Gran Coupé.
Other Special edition inclusions are:
- 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with Y-spoke style 728M in Jet Black
- M Sport brake callipers finished in red and
- M high-gloss Shadow Line with extended contents
Just one BMW Individual paint finish and BMW Individual full leather Merino combination will be available for each 8 Series Heritage Edition model in each body style.
