Range Rover is putting its all-electric future to the ultimate test—under the punishing sun of the UAE’s deserts. In temperatures reaching a sweltering 50°C and humidity levels of up to 90%, the Range Rover Electric is proving that luxury and capability don’t melt under pressure.
Land Rover’s engineers are fine-tuning the first all-electric Range Rover with rigorous tests in one of the planet’s most challenging climates. From the towering dunes of Al Badayer to the urban scorch of Dubai, the Electric Range Rover is out to show it can match—or even outdo—its petrol and diesel-powered predecessors.
Thomas Müller, Land Rover’s engineering chief, summed it up best: “Driving on fine sand while keeping the cabin cool and the batteries optimised is no small feat. Our Intelligent Torque Management system has reduced wheel torque reaction time to an astonishing 1 millisecond. This allows the car to master both the relentless sun and Dubai’s infamous ‘Big Red’ dune without breaking a sweat.”

Unlike some other EVs, the Range Rover Electric isn’t shy about getting its wheels dirty. With precision weight distribution, advanced suspension, and state-of-the-art traction systems, it breezed through sand dunes, holding its own against combustion-engine siblings. Each climb of the 300-foot ‘Big Red’—not once but five times—was a testament to the Electric Range Rover’s durability and power.
Scheduled for client reservations in 2025, this EV will bring Range Rover’s iconic blend of refinement and ruggedness into a bold, electric era. In true Range Rover fashion, it’s as comfortable navigating the urban jungles of Dubai as it is dominating the desert wilderness.
And, of course, no desert adventure would be complete without a touch of drama. Like the flamboyant host of a drag brunch refusing to wilt under the midday sun, the Range Rover Electric embodies unshakeable composure, proving that luxury, innovation, and resilience can go hand-in-hand—even in the hottest of climates.
