Range Rover’s HQ has cut the ribbon on its Range Rover Electric customer waiting list, opening the gates on what Range Rover claims is a new ERA of super-luxury off-roading. The waiting list (here – RANGE ROVER) is the first step towards ownership experience, the next being the opening of order books where buyers can place a deposit and specify their needs.Range Rover has filed more patents for the New Range Rover Electric than any of their previous SUVs, with prototypes being exposed to extreme testing. Temperatures from deep-freeze to dangerously high have been thrown at the big Brit. Range Rover Electric tackled every kind of terrain imaginable, including water u to 850mm deep.
Range Rover Electric is anticipated to be the quietest ever, and has unique active road noise cancellation adding to the inherent silence of all EVs, and the 800V architecture will be able to take advantage of the fastest rapid charging public networks.

Range Rover Electric is built on the company’s Modular Longitudinal Architecture in the Solihull factory, while the batteries and electric drive units (EDUs) are assembled at JLR’s new Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton. This production line also creates the current mild and extended-range plug-in electric hybrid Range Rover vehicles.
Range Rover aims for a “seamless electric ownership experience”. This includes easy charging, energy partnerships, and software over-the-air-updates.
Geraldine Ingham, Managing Director, of Range Rover said, “Since going on sale in 2021 the latest generation Range Rover has set a new benchmark for desirability. Across the globe, we’re seeing the highest levels of client demand in our 53-year history.”
“Because of this unprecedented success story, we’re now opening the official waiting list for the opportunity to be among the first to place a pre-order for the most anticipated Range Rover of recent times.”
“Marking a new era for the Range Rover brand: the original luxury SUV is now available as an all-electric model.”
Thomas Müller, Executive Director, Product Engineering, JLR, said, “We are on target to create the quietest and most refined Range Rover ever created.
Range Rover Electric will perform similarly to the existing Range Rover V8, including its all-terrain capability. Testing from Sweden to Dubai, in temperatures ranging from -40C to +50C, tested systems beyond what most owners will ever experience. Components such as its underfloor battery, must withstand submersion as well as extreme heat and cold.
Range Rover is one of the very few super-luxury SUVs that is a proper off-roader, and the fully electric model has to have the same credentials. Many have tried to create such an EV, but few have succeeded.
It remains only to test drive the real thing.
