GM Defense grabs $36.4 million US Contract

Each Hydrotec power cube contains 300-plus hydrogen fuel cells along with thermal and power management systems. The power cubes are compact and easy to package and can be used in a wide range of applications, including marine, earth-moving and mining equipment, locomotives and power generators. Each of the 300 fuel cells and supporting components is designed to boost performance, efficiency, safety and ease of integration • Provides 80 kilowatts of quiet and efficient net power • Can be arrayed in 2-3 units per vehicle to achieve higher power ratings • Proprietary controls increase fuel cell and battery life and performance while optimizing cold-start performance • Low precious metal content • Meets or exceeds automotive and commercial safety standards, with multiple, built-in redundancies • Built with a proprietary Membrane Electrode Assembly and dedicated manufacturing processes, It fits into a wide range of applications, including submarines, locomotives, port equipment, airport ground equipment and power generators. It complements GM’s Ultium batteries or other Li-Ion batteries, and is easy to package. Its Compact size, advanced features, and clever integration, has advantages few competitive systems can match. It can fit under a flat floor, and into any Class 5, 6, 7 or 8 trucks.

Customers in Australia and New Zealand will be able to access some of the biggest and best full-size trucks – beginning with the Chevrolet Silverado – through the newly established General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) network. The Silverado 1500, remanufactured to right-hand-drive by Walkinshaw Automotive Group, is the first entry in the GMSV portfolio, with the Silverado 2500 and the C8 Corvette to follow in late 2021. GM Continues to Electric Future

GM continues to advance toward an all-electric, zero-emissions future with the construction of its nearly 3 million-square-foot Ultium Cells LLC battery cell manufacturing facility in Lordstown. Ultium Cells LLC is a joint venture with LG Chem that will mass-produce Ultium battery cells for electric vehicles and create more than 1,100 new jobs in Northeast Ohio.

General Motors today announced its Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center will be known as Factory ZERO, reconfigured to an all-electric vehicle assembly plant. The name Factory ZERO reflects the significance of this facility in advancing GM’s zero-crashes, zero-emissions and zero-congestion future. Factory ZERO will be the launchpad for GM’s multi-brand EV strategy.
