Honda’s popular CR-V is now available with the Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS), most recently introduced to the all-new Accord.

“With advanced safety technology such as the Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keep Assist System and Adaptive Cruise Control, ADAS makes the CR-V an even more attractive proposition for Australian families,” Honda Australia Director, Mr. Stephen Collins said.

The CR-V continues to be the number one selling petrol medium SUV year to date, with 5,883 units sold in 2013 (source: May YTD VFACTS).

ADAS is available as a factory fitted option on the 4WD VTi-L and is priced from the Manufacturer’s List Price (MLP) of $45,790.  Two new colours are also available: Taffeta White and Modern Steel.

ADAS features three technologies: Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

CMBS detects a vehicle ahead and determines if a collision is possible and provides the driver with visual and audio alerts to encourage avoidant actions.  If a collision seems imminent, CMBS will apply braking and seat-belt tensioning to minimise the risk.

LKAS is designed for dual carriageway or motorway use.  The system detects lane markings using a camera mounted on the inside of the windscreen.  If it senses the vehicle is about the leave its lane without indicating, LKAS will issue a visual and audio warning and apply gentle corrective steering to assist the driver to move the vehicle back to the centre of the lane.
Buttons on the steering wheel operate ACC, allowing the driver to set their speed and preferred distance from the vehicle in front.
