Honda has expanded its e:HEV hybrid powertrain across the CR-V range for 2026, dropping the entry price for hybrid buyers by around $7,000 compared to 2025.
The 2026 CR-V e:HEV now starts from $49,990 before on-road costs. For the first time, Honda is also offering the hybrid powertrain with all-wheel drive, giving families the confidence to tackle unpredictable weather or venture off the beaten track without sacrificing the smooth performance the e:HEV system is known for.
How much does the 2026 Honda CR-V e:HEV cost?
Hybrid CR-V pricing now starts at $49,990 before on-road costs. Honda has rolled the e:HEV powertrain down the range, making it more accessible than in previous years and opening up the hybrid experience to buyers who might previously have been priced out.
Honda Australia Director of Automotive Robert Thorp said the expansion would encourage more drivers to experience the CR-V’s smooth and responsive hybrid performance.
“CR-V’s smooth and responsive hybrid powertrain paired with the direct and confidence-inspiring handling found in all Hondas is a thrill no longer reserved for the top of the range,” Mr Thorp said.
“Australians are choosing hybrids in record numbers and with our e:HEV, we know we have one of the best there is in both power delivery and economy.”
“Expanding e:HEV down the range means you can now get into a hybrid CR-V for around $7,000 less than in 2025. Add in hybrid AWD and there really is an option for everybody.”
What is new for 2026?
Beyond the expanded hybrid availability, the 2026 CR-V refresh includes a suite of new technologies across the range designed to improve both safety and comfort.
Driver aids now include a 360-degree camera for easier parking and manoeuvring, along with Driveaway auto door lock for added convenience.
Comfort additions include heated rear seats, a welcome upgrade for rear passengers in cooler months, and ventilated front seats to keep the driver and front passenger comfortable in warmer weather.
The new e:HEV AWD variant ties together the smooth hybrid powertrain with intelligent all-wheel drive capability, providing families with more confidence when conditions turn challenging.

How has CR-V performed in Australia?
The CR-V has been a mainstay of Australian family motoring since its local introduction in 1997, with over 244,000 sold in Australia across nearly three decades. Not too shabby for a brand that has all but disappeared in recent years.
The current sixth-generation model won News Corp Australia Car of the Year in 2023 and Drive.com.au’s Best Medium SUV (under $50k), recognition that reflects the CR-V’s blend of practicality, refinement and value.
Globally, more than 13.5 million CR-Vs have been sold since 1995. In the United States, CR-V sales surpassed 400,000 in 2025, making it the best-selling compact SUV over the past 28 years.
What else is Honda launching in 2026?
The CR-V changes head a busy year for Honda Australia.
The ZR-V is also set to expand e:HEV hybrid availability across its range, while the HR-V and Civic will receive updates.
Honda will also launch two all-new products: the Prelude, marking the return of an iconic nameplate that defined affordable sports car motoring in the 1980s and 1990s, and the Super-ONE, Honda Australia’s first battery electric vehicle and a small city car aimed at urban buyers.
