Toyota Australia has announced a Customer Service Exercise (CSE) to correct a bug that’s making some Toyota LandCruiser 300s throw a tantrum when unlocked. Around 7,570 vehicles built between 4 February 2025 and 23 September 2025 are affected.

Owners may have noticed a rather embarrassing fault: after being locked for an hour or more, unlocking the big Cruiser with either the smart key or the remote can cause the alarm to go off. The only way to silence it is to unlock the vehicle again—hardly ideal when you’re trying to slip quietly out of the carpark.

Toyota says the issue comes down to a software glitch in the ECU. Dealers will reprogram the affected vehicles free of charge, and the fix takes around 30 minutes. Depending on the dealer’s schedule, owners might need to leave their car for a bit longer.

Letters will soon be sent to all registered owners, but Toyota is urging everyone to keep their contact details up to date to avoid missing out. The company is calling this a “Customer Service Exercise” rather than a formal recall, but the intent is the same: to make sure every LC300 behaves itself.

Drivers with questions are encouraged to contact their local dealer or the Toyota Campaign Helpline on 1800 987 366 (Mon–Fri, 8 am–6 pm AEDT). Having your 17-digit VIN ready will speed things up.

A simple software update should see the mighty LandCruiser’s alarm stop crying wolf—leaving owners free to get on with the important stuff, like towing, exploring, or bragging about their diesel torque.
