Toyota’s GAZOO Racing (GR) performance lineup just got an upgrade, with revamped versions of the GR Corolla, GR Yaris, and GR86 coupe now available. Toyota has fused its motorsport expertise with everyday driving excitement, something practical hatches a cool coupes are best known for.
GR Corolla: Pure All-Wheel-Drive Thrills
The GR Corolla is no longer just for manual purists—it now offers a close-ratio eight-speed automatic transmission alongside the six-speed manual. Priced from $67,990 (manual) and $70,490 (auto), the GR Corolla delivers punch with 221kW of power and a torque boost to 400Nm. The auto adds adaptive cruise control and parking support brakes, while both variants feature a lighter body thanks to clever weight-saving, including a standard carbon-fibre roof. A wider front grille and improved aerodynamics keep things cool, literally and figuratively, while active noise control dials down engine hum for a more refined experience.
Four drive modes, including a Sport mode developed on circuits around the world, ensure the GR Corolla adapts to every mood—whether that’s a lazy Sunday cruise or a spirited sprint to your local café. The addition of paddle shifters and launch control on the auto variant means no excuses for slow starts.
GR Yaris: Rally Royalty, Refined
Since its debut in 2020, the GR Yaris has been the darling of enthusiasts. With its rally-inspired DNA, the upgraded GR Yaris turns things up to 11. Rather thrillingly, the 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder now matches the GR Corolla’s 221kW/400Nm, and the addition of a new “Gravel” mode provides near-perfect torque distribution for slippery surfaces. This nimble hatch also gets a fresh interior redesign with a motorsport-inspired cockpit, 15-degree tilt for better operability, and a lowered driving position for helmeted adventures.
For tech lovers, the GR Yaris now has wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Safety tech is also upgraded, with front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert now standard. With prices starting at $55,490 for the manual GT and $60,490 for the flagship GTS, this pocket rocket is all about maximum fun per dollar.

GR86: Lightweight Fun Meets Serious Style
Toyota’s GR86 coupe has always been a favourite for drivers who love rear-wheel-drive balance and sharp handling. The upgraded model builds on this legacy with revised suspension and steering for even more precise feedback. Under the bonnet, the 2.4-litre engine now features a retuned throttle for smoother power delivery and an automatic transmission capable of downshifting at higher RPMs.
The GR86 lineup starts at $43,240 for the GT and $45,390 for the GTS, with both manual and auto transmissions available. But the star of the show is the Limited Edition model, priced at $49,600. Dressed in an exclusive Forest Shadow paint job, bronze 18-inch alloys, and black-and-tan upholstery, it pairs head-turning looks with upgraded red Brembo brakes and ZF Sachs sports dampers.
Why the GR Lineup Matters
Toyota Australia’s Vice President of Sales, Sean Hanley, said the GR range embodies Toyota’s motorsport DNA while remaining accessible to enthusiasts.
