Volvo Cuts EX30 and EX40 Prices Ahead of EX60 Arrival

Volvo Car Australia has slashed prices across its EX30 and EX40 electric range, clearing the decks for the EX60’s arrival later this year.

The EX30 Plus Single Motor drops to $49,990. The Ultra Single Motor sits at $54,990. The Cross Country variant lands at $62,990. Over in the EX40 camp, the Ultra Single Motor goes for $69,990 while the Twin Motor asks $74,990.

These are MRRPs, not driveaways, but the direction is clear. Volvo wants to sharpen its lineup before the EX60 mid-size SUV rocks up to what the company calls “the largest electric market segment.”

The EX60 Question

The EX60 is the car Volvo hopes will change everything. They’re promising range that “dispels range anxiety once and for all” and a world-first multi-adaptive safety belt that adjusts protection based on body type. No Australian pricing yet, but expect that closer to the late 2026 launch window.

Volvo is also very keen to remind everyone about their safety credentials. Managing director Stephen Connor describes the EX60 as “one of the safest cars on the market” and “the purest form of the Volvo Cars Safety standard.” This is Volvo doing what Volvo does best: making safety sound like a Scandinavian lifestyle choice.

As a cute sideline, the previous big bosses back in Sweden were not BFF’s. The new guys can wave at each other from their offices on the opposite sides of Assar Gabrielssons Väg in the picturesque Gothenburg. Geely, Volvo’s Chinese owner, has sensibly left hands off and the results have been both pleasing and impressive.

What It Means

This is positioning, plain and simple. The EX30 now starts under $50k. The EX40 fills the $70-75k gap. And the EX60 slots in wherever Volvo decides it needs to be competitive with the rest of the mid-size EV crowd.

The phrase “Swedish Dream” appeared in the press release. Make of that what you will.

EX60 arrives late 2026. Final specs and pricing to follow.
