Ok, everyone has an opinion, but as my late, great, dad used to say, “opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one.”

Mazda brought it its CX-90, indirectly replacing the older CX-9. It looks so similar that you wonder why they bothered, however since Mazda did bother, the boys and I put together a top ten best and worst.

The boys don’t spare the horses when it comes to criticising, but are generous when it comes to the praiseworthy attributes.

CX-90 is the car we would all have wanted to ride to school in. There were few SUVs in those days, and what was available was primitive by today’s standards. There was no power steering, air conditioning, power brakes, and power windows were only for the super-rich.

By comparison, CX-90 is a palace on wheels, but we don’t view in isolation, especially when it comes to vehicles. The top CX-90 with the Takumi pack is a shade under $110,000, which puts the buyer into a ballpark down the road, round the corner, onto the freeway, the interstate freeway.

In fact you could get a smaller SUV, but move into the luxury brand sphere where the Europeans hold court like Henry VIII, with less beheading.

The video review scours the barnacles from CX-90’s hull, scrubs her waterline, yet treads lightly in deck-friendly loafers.

Let us know what you think.
