Nissan Z NISMO brings more performance, more KW, more torque, NISMO-tuned suspension and brakes, aerodynamic skirts, stiffened suspension, and wider wheels for an all-round Nismo track worthy polish.

The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO goes on sale in the US this fall. US Pricing will be announced at a later date with Australian pricing to follow.

Z NISMO design

Z NISMO produces positive downforce comes a stylish flourish. Z NISMO has a “Grand-Nose” or “G-Nose,” which extends the front in the spirit in the priginal Nissan Fairlady 240ZG.

The grille has thinnest honeycomb mesh of any Nissan production car. Long with that extra cooling, canards at the front corners direct vortexes over the front wheels, also helping with that aerodynamic performance. The final touch comes in the form of a red accent along the lower edge of the front end.

Around the back is a wider rear spoiler whose three-piece design covers the boot and onto the rear guards. Reshaped bumper corners aid air separation, inspired the GT-R NISMO. Like the front end, there is a red along the lower edge of the rump, outlining the exhausts. The redesigned Z NISMO side are not just there for decoration, and also help the coupé slip through the air.

Z NISMO outlines the upper window edge with dark metallic gray version of the car’s signature katana-blade styling element. Finally, there is a black-painted roof sexy set of gloss black 19-inch RAYS wheels.

Z NISMO comes in five colors: Black Diamond Pearl, Brilliant Silver, Passion Red TriCoat, Everest White Pearl TriCoat and NISMO-exclusive Stealth Grey.

The Cabin

Z NISMO avoids visual “noise”, with subtle anodized red start/stop and drive mode selection buttons. The TFT meter display has a red outline around the tachometer, a NISMO logo and a special red “flash” during the start-up sequence.

As anticipated, the Recaro seats are leather and Alcantara, with a red centre and NISMO logos embossed in the headrests. A bespoke Alcantara steering wheel has the traditional red accent at the 12 o’clock.

Twin-turbo engine changes include:

Z NISMO’s twin-turbo engine power outputs up to 310KW/515Nm. The increases over the regular Nissan Z come from the adroit tweaks to cooling, electronic wastegate control, increased turbocharger boost and turbine speed, and independent ignition spark timing as seen in the GT-R NISMO.

Automatic transmission shifting with Sport+ mode

Z NISMO comes only in a nine-speed automatic, enhanced for faster shifts tuned for track use. There are revised clutch packs, and revised engine management software, that reduces Z NISMO’s downshift, as if they weren’t slick enough already. Launch control also delivers more aggressive standing-start acceleration.

Z NISMO adds a new Sport+ to Normal and Sport drive modes.

Revised suspension and tires

NISMO gets super sharp suspension for added cornering grip. There are unique stabilizer bars, stiffer spring rates, and larger, retuned dampers.

Tyres are Dunlop® SP SPORT MAXX GT600, a version of which are also seen on GT-R. Rear tyres are 10mm wider than the Z Performance (285/35R19 versus 275/35R19) tyres.

The NISMO-specific, gloss black RAYS 19-inch wheels are 0.5 inch wider than the 19-inch wheels on Z Performance (10 inches wide front, 10.5 inches wide rear), but the NISMO-specific wheels are slightly lighter.

Stiffened chassis

Z NISMO gets added bracing and stiffening such as additional front, rear and rear underfloor bracing, improving rigidity by 2.5%. Stiffer front and rear suspension bushings, and a stiffer mounting bushing for the steering rack, also work to improve lateral rigidity.

Brakes

Z NISMO gets larger 15.0-inch rotors front brakes and 13.8-inch rear brake rotors, as well as performance-focused brake pad compounds.

More power, more performance

While the Z’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 produces a potent 298kW and 475Nm, the Z NISMO ups the performance ante even further, with enhancements like improved cooling, increased turbocharger boost and turbine speed, and an independent ignition spark timing strategy inspired by GT-R NISMO, combining to increase outputs to 309kW and 520Nm (+11kW and +45Nm respectively).

That track-ready performance is met by track-ready endurance, with an enhanced engine oil cooler engineered to keep the NISMO at its peak for the longest possible periods.

A NISMO-tuned nine-speed automatic is the exclusive transmission option, with power delivered to the rear wheels.
