2025 Ford Ranger Super Duty Conquers 600kg – Brutal Mud-Pack Test

Some trucks get a polite test drive. The 2025 Ford Ranger Super Duty got dragged through hell, rolled in 600 kilos of muck, and told to keep going.

This wasn’t a weekend splash — this was Ford Australia’s “mud-pack test,” a savage multi-day gauntlet at the You Yangs Proving Ground. Picture axle-deep ruts, gossip-sticky clay, and bog holes that could eat a hatchback for breakfast.

“Mud is one of a truck’s greatest enemies,” says Rob Hugo, Ford Australia’s product excellence and human factors supervisor. “It adds massive weight, stops airflow, overheats components, and can clog critical parts like fans and alternators.” Translation: mud is nasty business.

Over several days, engineers let the Ranger Super Duty collect enough baked-on sludge to equal a Brahman steer. No rinsing, no mercy — just clay baked on like overcooked lasagne, suffocating its cooling system and daring it to quit.

And it didn’t. The Super Duty kept ploughing through, proving it’s not just “Built Ford Tough” — it’s “Built Ford Filthy.” This is a truck that’s been tested in the dirt, tested by the dirt, and still came back ready for another round.

So whether you’re hauling mining gear through the outback or just want bragging rights at the pub, know this: Ford’s latest Ranger Super Duty has already survived the dirtiest test they could throw at it. And it’s still grinning.
