2025 Honda Civic Type R Gets Bold Racing Blue Option

Honda Australia has confirmed that the 2025 Civic Type R (FL5) is about to get a striking wardrobe update. The iconic hot hatch will be available in a brand-new Racing Blue paint finish, joining Championship White, Crystal Black, and Sonic Grey in the colour line-up. It’s bold, it’s loud, and it’s bound to get more attention than a sequinned shirt at Mardi Gras.

The Civic Type R has always been more than just a car; it’s Honda’s love letter to performance, heritage, and razor-sharp handling. Designed in Japan, the FL5 combines a sleek, aerodynamic body with clever engineering that ensures it looks as fast as it goes. And it certainly goes. Under the bonnet, the turbocharged 2.0-litre VTEC four-cylinder remains untouched, producing a spicy 235kW and 420Nm. Mated exclusively to a six-speed manual, it’s an old-school thrill machine in an age of electric everything.

If that wasn’t enough, Honda is offering an optional carbon fibre spoiler for those who like their weekends track-prepped and Instagram-ready. At $5,300*, the wing isn’t cheap, but it does add plenty of aero cred. The Civic Type R itself is priced at $79,000 drive-away*, which is steep, but then again, exclusivity and pedigree rarely come cheap.

Robert Thorp, Director of Automotive for Honda Australia, says: “Civic Type R has captured the imagination of Australians for generations and continues to represent the pinnacle of performance in small cars. We’re pleased to welcome the new Racing Blue colour providing a genuine performance model halo presence.”

With customer demand still running high, Honda will prioritise registered buyers first. So if Racing Blue has you feeling a little weak at the knees, you’d better sign up quickly.

After all, the Civic Type R isn’t just a car—it’s a statement. And in Racing Blue, that statement is loud, proud, and fabulous.
