BMW Z4 & Toyota Supra Set for Retirement – Final Editions Coming

BMW and Toyota are preparing to say goodbye to two of their most iconic performance machines – the BMW Z4 roadster and the Toyota GR Supra coupe. Both cars will exit production in 2026, each with a special Final Edition send-off before the curtain falls.

BMW Z4 – Final Edition Incoming

The third-generation BMW Z4 (G29) will bow out in May 2026, with whispers of a Z4 M40i Final Edition launching in spring next year. Expect bespoke paint, unique wheels, cabin tweaks, and commemorative badging. BMW has a rich history of crafting Final Editions, from the M760i V12 to the X5 M50d, so fans can expect something truly special.

While enthusiasts had hoped for a manual farewell, the Final Edition is likely to cost upwards of $80,000, especially if BMW rolls in Individual customisation options. Once production ends, there will be no direct successor – the roadster era at BMW is closing.

Toyota GR Supra – Orders Closing Soon

On Toyota’s side, the GR Supra will also finish its run in 2026. Toyota Australia has confirmed orders will cease by August 2025, marking the end of a six-year chapter since its 2019 launch.

The Supra’s swansong will be a Final Edition for Europe and Japan, boasting BMW’s most powerful B58 inline-six yet. Meanwhile, Australian fans can still grab one of the GT, GTS, or Track Edition variants – the latter featuring motorsport-inspired suspension, carbon ducktail, and aggressive aero tweaks.

Since launch, more than 1,400 Australian buyers have snapped up Supras, lured by its turbocharged performance and rear-drive thrills. And while production ends, the Supra’s name will live on – it’s set to hit the Supercars Championship grid in 2026.

The End of an Era

With both cars exiting the stage, the legendary Z4-Supra partnership – built by Magna Steyr in Austria – concludes. BMW bows out of the roadster game, while Toyota vows to keep the Supra name alive with a next-gen model in the future.

One thing is certain: these Final Editions won’t just be cars – they’ll be collector’s items.
