Toyota has lifted the covers on the new bZ4X Touring, a flagship all-electric SUV that turns up the volume on both performance and practicality. Due in Australian showrooms in the first half of 2026, the bZ4X Touring expands Toyota’s zero-emissions offering as part of its multi-pathway approach to decarbonisation.
Building on the already slick and silent bZ4X, the Touring variant brings an extra 140mm behind the rear axle and a more upright tailgate, boosting luggage capacity by around 30%—perfect for road trips, IKEA runs, or packing your best mates and a week’s worth of sequins for Mardi Gras.
But it’s not just about space. This new model packs a 280kW all-wheel-drive powertrain, making it Toyota’s most powerful SUV to date. Combined with a 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery (shared with the upgraded bZ4X), the Touring promises a solid blend of long-range touring and spirited EV punch. Even better, the battery includes a pre-conditioning function to optimise fast-charging times—targeting about 30 minutes, even when the mercury drops.
Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia’s VP of Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations, says, “It’s an excellent solution for customers needing extra practicality and the performance and battery range they desire for long-distance touring.”

Set to launch exclusively in a flagship AWD trim, the bZ4X Touring reflects Toyota’s evolving strategy: offer something for everyone, from hybrids and plug-ins to hydrogen and full battery-electric.
Aimed at drivers who want space for gear, style for the city, and power for the highway—all with zero tailpipe emissions—the bZ4X Touring promises to be a compelling addition to the growing EV market.
Full Australian specs will be confirmed closer to launch. For now, we’ll be eagerly counting the kilowatts and making room in the garage.
