2026 Toyota GR Corolla: Sharper, Cooler and Louder Than Ever

Toyota’s spicy GR Corolla is about to get even hotter, with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing giving the performance hatch a proper going-over for 2026. Arriving in Aussie showrooms early next year, the upgrades promise sharper handling, better cooling, and just a bit more theatre — because subtlety never wins races.

Born from Toyota’s motorsport obsession, particularly Japan’s Super Taikyu Series, the refreshed GR Corolla now packs 74% more structural adhesive — that’s 32.7 metres of sticky stuff strengthening its underbody and wheel wells. The result? Stiffer bones, tighter control, and a more visceral connection between driver and machine, whether you’re fangin’ through corners or crawling through city traffic.

A new cool air duct feeds the turbocharged 1.6-litre triple with fresh air from the grille, keeping temps down during those long, spirited drives. It still punches out 221kW and 400Nm through either a six-speed manual or new eight-speed auto, with the GR-FOUR AWD system and LSDs keeping all four paws planted.

Inside, Toyota’s upped the aural drama. A nine-speaker JBL system (with subwoofer!) joins revised noise control tech and Active Sound Control that can be tuned or turned off — because sometimes you want your hatchback to snarl like a rally car, and sometimes you don’t.

Pricing and final Aussie specs drop closer to launch, but one thing’s certain: the 2026 GR Corolla isn’t just better — it’s badder, louder, and more than ready for a gay old time at the track.
