Audi E- Tron 50 Review PT 1: EV Myths BUSTED!

Audi E Tron 50 Quattro Review

We want to dispel those, tired, old electric car myths. In fact, let’s call it out for what it is: outright lies and propaganda. This week we drove Audi’s new E Tron, It is a sophisticated, elegant, zero emissions solution to a question, that if goes unanswered, will end mankind. Before you carry on like a pork chop, the same tired old anti, EV moaners are the ones who deny climate change is a thing.

In Part 2 of our story, we review the E-Tron, for all the good and bad READ ABOUT IT HERE

Face it people, if we do nothing, much of the planet will be unliveable, not in a thousand years, not in a hundred years, but in the lifetimes of our children

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s get on to the “myths”, aka, lies.

1: Electric cars are more harmful to our Earth than a fossil-fuelled car.

That dangerous balderdash comes from the crumbling ruins of  the minds of early 20th century oil barons. It is one of those statements made without basis in fact. What does it even mean?

2: Electric cars can’t be fully recycled.

The amount of material recycled from each vehicle, electric or not, varies. Little in this world is 100% recyclable, but auto makers are labouring day and night to make it so. In short, EVs are no better and no worse than any other conveyance. Auto makers are striving to make their entire ecosystem 100% carbon neutral. Doubters heads will by now explode, and good riddance to them.

3: Precious metals required for batteries are running out.

We thought about this one, over a gin and tonic. Max was first out of the gate, “Following that logic, surely the same goes for oil, coal, and gas. Fossil fuels took millions of years to form. If precious metals are finite, then surely oil is becoming less and less viable, and were it not for government subsidy, would already be a stranded asset.” He then poured his 3rd G and T in half an hour. This subject really gets on his goat.

4: Electric cars take too long to charge.

This usually comes from someone who has never laid a hand on an EV let lone been in one. The E Tron took under 10 minutes to get to 80%. You whack your EV on charge while you shop and it is full when you’re done. Just like we all got used to taking bags when we shop, we could plug our cars in while grabbing a pizza and 6 pack (of claret).

5: Electric cars can’t pull trailers.

DUR! I’ll direct you to a Tesla pulling an aircraft, and leave it at that. see attached!!!

6: Electric cars can’t do road trips.

Time and time again that idiotic group of words has been shown to not be worth the trouble it took to utter them. There are currently enough chargers for present needs, but this is just the beginning. The Audi e Tron would need an ultra-fast charger every 2 hours. Guess what, that’s how often you should stop for a rest. Once upon a time you have to get motor fuel from chemists. Let that sink in for a bit.

There are many more myths, but we’ll move on to the Audi and come back to the myths another time.
