Bentley’s Rear Screen Can Stream From Your Phone. Here’s How

Who has ever tried using the rear entertainment systems, and failed? It usually requires a convoluted cable, or worse, is a DVD operated through the front-mounted DVD player. Look for what happenes in posh cars to see what is coming for more reasonably priced offerings, and we see a brilliant idea, streaming from your device.

The new Bentley rear-seat entertainment system in both the Flying Spur and the Bentayga, uses latest streaming technology and “Naim for Bentley” audio to give those in the back, a true threatre experience..

This ‘bring your own device’ concept allows passengers to stream content from their own smartphone, computer or tablet directly to the Bentley Rear Entertainment system without the need to connect by cable.

Two high-definition removeable 10.1” screens attached to the back of the front seats. 1920 x 1080 pixels gives clear visuals on the move.

Sound can be bluetoothed to the Bentley headphones supplied, passengers’ personal headphones, or directly to the Flying Spur or Bentayga’s Naim audio system. Flying Spur’d system has an astonishing 2,200 Watts of power. Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates ensure customers are future-proofed with the very latest in technology advances.

Input is via iOS and Android media apps, to either of the Bentley Rear Entertainment screens. Two travellers could watch different movies. Once connected, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Youku or Apple TV, content can be viewed on the Bentley system’s touchscreens.

The device mirroring includes pop-ups, notifications and screen rotation onto the 10.1” screen.

Netflix is pre-installed in Bentley system and can be watched without the need to stream from a customer’s device.

Removeable touchscreens haveHDMI ports to take media devices such as an Amazon Firestick, or a games console. The latest USB Type C port offers a convenient charging point for customer mobile devices, as well as back-up for software updates. A headphone jack is also provided, as an alternative to Bluetooth connectivity.

The HD touch screens sensitive operate just like your personal device, with functions such as volume, brightness, source selection and a handy user guide are easy to operate with the tap of a finger.

Connections to the front passenger seats use a specially designed mount that connects power to the system. The screens and arms can be removed if not required.

Finally, the screens have microphones to ensure audio coming from the Bentley’s speakers is synced  to what is playing on the screens. We suspect sound will uaully be through headphones, but it is nice to know there will be no lag if using the main speaker systym.
