BMW revealed the iX4 recently, and the 50 xDrive pairs a 108.7kWh battery with 400kW DC charging for up to 828km WLTP.
The BMW iX4 is the coupe-roofed SUV version of the Neue Klasse, and it’s the third model on that platform after the iX3 and i3. BMW builds it at its Debrecen plant in Hungary alongside the iX3, with European sales starting in March 2027.
Both launch models are all-wheel drive. The 40 xDrive makes 275kW/520Nm and the 50 xDrive makes 345kW/645Nm, which takes the 0-100km/h time from 5.6sec down to 4.9sec.
BMW iX4 Range and Charging
The 40 xDrive uses an 82.6kWh net battery and is rated at up to 638km WLTP. The 50 xDrive gets a 108.7kWh battery, good for up to 828km WLTP, with WLTP consumption of 15.7-19.0kWh/100km against 15.9-19.1kWh/100km for the 40.

Both run BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive on an 800-volt architecture with round battery cells, and both can charge bidirectionally. The Gen6 high-voltage battery already picked up an award in China. DC charging peaks at 300kW in the 40 and 400kW in the 50, and either one goes from 10-80% in 21mins. Ten minutes on a DC charger adds up to 301km WLTP to the 40 and up to 387km to the 50.
Coupe Roof, Panoramic Screen
BMW pairs the coupe roofline with a long wheelbase and short overhangs. The L-shaped tail lights are set into the tailgate itself. The drag coefficient is 0.23, and the panoramic roof is standard in Germany.
The dashboard runs BMW Panoramic iDrive with Operating System X. The Panoramic Vision display stretches across the base of the windscreen above a 17.9-inch centre screen, and a 3D head-up display is optional. My Modes offers Sport, Efficient and Silent settings. Buyers choose from 3 interior designs and 7 upholstery choices, including vegan Veganza and merino leather.
An iX4 M60 xDrive follows shortly after the launch models with 450kW, 0-100km/h in 3.9sec and up to 777km WLTP. Prices and further specification details to follow.
