Australia’s newest brand, CUPRA, revealed specification for the new Formentor SUV range

Cupra Formentor arrives in July with both performance and economy models including a 180kw sport-oriented hot-hatch, and a hybrid fuel miser.

Nomonclatures of the four variants are the same as the Leon range we wrote about last week, though with the availability of all-wheel-drive in two Formentor versions.

These are the Formentor V 4Drive; Formentor VZ; Formentor VZe and Formentor VZx 4Drive.

CUPRA Australia’s Head of Product and Planning, Jeff Shafer, said: “While the Formentor is clearly related to the Leon and Ateca in a technical sense, visually it is also the ‘most CUPRA’ of the conventional CUPRAS. This has in no small way contributed to the Formentor comprising almost two-thirds of total CUPRA sales.

“As with the Leon and Ateca, the highest feasible level of standard specification has been our objective.”

Pricing will be announced closer to launch. As with other VW products, CUPRA comes with a five year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
