Cars that sell oh-so-slowly in Australia, sell like hotcakes in Europe. Fiat’s 500 and Panda, are Europe’s most popular city cars, have a market share of 35.6%, which is up 3%, believe it or not.
Fiat Chrysler joined the Peugeot Citroen group to form Stellantis in a 13 brand mega-giant, but not all brands will survive. Fiat looks to remain, in Europe at least.

Panda is a 40 year old name plate, which has the best segment share in Italy of 47.8%, and in the rest of Europe is 17.8%.

In 2020, the Fiat Panda reported the best yearly growth in its segment, up 3.4% versus 2019.
It got the best market share since 2012 and most growth in its segment for the 2nd year running. The 500 received its best market share ever outside Italy with 19.3%.
Interestingly, Panda was withdrawn in Australia, with sluggish sales, and 500 sells in very small numbers.
Fiat launched the 500 and Panda mild hybrids in February 2020. It sold 110,000 units making them leaders in the hybrid city car segment*.
The New 500 launched in Europe late last year, where the fully-electric city car sold over 10,000 units.
The New Fiat 500 is the brand’s first fully-electric vehicle. It was a UK unveil in March 2020 and is ready order in the UK. It’s won awards even before being on sale in the UK, and has four seats in hatchback or a convertible and a range of up to 199 miles and can charge 0-80% in 30 minutes, depending on which one you buy.
The 500, 500X and 500L get a refresh in 2021 with updated trims levels aligned across the range. There are five levels in each, with orders starting in early February.
Late last year Panda and Tipo were updated. Panda has news pumpers bumpers, colour options, and wheels. The seats and dashboard are created from recycled materials. Tipo, gets a new model, the Tipo Cross. Tipo Cross has a different grille, skid plates and roof bars. The Tipo range debuts new LED headlights, new bumpers and grille. both are open for UK orders now.
