You know those moments when you’re alone in the car, shouting “why won’t you just understand me?” at the voice assistant? Well, Kia has heard our cries (possibly through a cloud server) and is answering with something juicier: their new generative AI-powered voice recognition system, simply called AI Assistant. It’s finally arriving in Europe, after previously making its glittering debut in Korea and the US. And honestly? She’s serving intelligence with a side of charm.
This isn’t your typical voice command setup where you have to yell “NAVIGATION” like you’re calling out bingo numbers. No, darling. Kia’s AI Assistant lets you talk to your car like you would to your smartest friend—one who knows the best ramen spots, can explain EV vs ICE, and reminds you to pack bug spray before a camping trip. We stan a helpful queen.
“Hey Kia…” And Off You Go
To get started, all you need is a simple “Hey Kia” or a press of the voice command button on the steering wheel. From there, it’s smooth sailing. Want a playlist for a romantic city night drive? Need help setting the cabin temp just right? Wondering if it’s rude to clink glasses in Spain? Just ask.
The AI Assistant doesn’t just answer – it understands context. The more detailed you are, the smarter she gets. Think:
“Hey Kia, I’m going camping in the Blue Mountains with my ex who’s trying to get back together—what should I pack?”
She won’t offer relationship advice (yet), but she’ll make sure you’ve got a cosy sleeping bag and bug repellent.

She’s Got Brains and Looks
Thanks to Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, this Assistant will only get sharper over time. And if you’re rocking the latest EV3, you’re first in line to experience her talents. Existing owners? Don’t worry. As long as you’ve installed Regular Update 24.2 (via OTA or Kia’s navigation update portal), you’re good to go.
Right now, she’s fluent in six languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Dutch. And yes, she comes with a one-year free trial in Europe (after that, we assume she expects a modest tip in the form of a subscription).
Just remember: to chat with her, your Kia Connect Services need to be active. It’s like having Wi-Fi at brunch—non-negotiable.
More Than Just Directions and Weather
Where older voice systems would barely find your nearest servo, Kia’s AI Assistant goes all in. Ask her about how your Highway Driving Assistant works when the traffic’s bumper-to-bumper and the coffee hasn’t kicked in. Want to know how to use the 360° camera, or why the regen braking feels different in Sport mode? She’s got you.
She also dabbles in education.
“Hey Kia, why is the sky blue? Explain like I’m five.”
And she will. Which makes her the perfect road trip buddy—especially with little ones (or hungover adults).

The AI Assistant is already part of the Kia K4 in the US and EV3 in Korea. Now she’s gracing European-spec EV3s built from March 2025. She’ll expand to any Kia using the ccNC system, including the EV6, EV9, and Sorento in the UK. Future rollouts are expected to follow, depending on how well she’s received—though we predict rave reviews and maybe a drag brunch in her honour.
Final Word?
Kia’s AI Assistant isn’t just a tech upgrade. She’s a transformation—part digital concierge, part car-savvy bestie, and entirely fabulous. It’s like having your own onboard gay uncle who knows where to park, when to brake, and how not to embarrass yourself in front of your Spanish dinner guests. And we’re absolutely here for it.
“Hey Kia, take me somewhere fabulous.”
