Hyundai Staria Load Electric is on sale now from $70,990 plus on-roads. That’s $21,000 more than the diesel, for a two-seat van with an 84kWh battery and 450km of WLTP range.
It’s the third powertrain in the Staria Load range, alongside the turbo-diesel and the Hybrid. Hyundai charges the same $70,990 for Liftback or Twin Swing rear doors. We covered the Hybrid, and the first hint of a battery version, when Hyundai added the Hybrid and Lounge flagship to the Staria.
The diesel Staria Load 2.2 CRDi starts at $49,990 and the Hybrid 1.6 T-GDi at $53,490, with either door style. The Hybrid Premium is $61,240 and comes as a Liftback only. The van made its public debut at Everything Electric Sydney, at Sydney Olympic Park, from 18 to 20 September.
Hyundai Staria Load Electric Battery and Charging
It’s built on Hyundai’s 800V E-GMP architecture, with a single front motor making 160kW/350Nm. The 84kWh battery gives a WLTP range of up to 450km, and combined consumption is 20.7kWh/100km.

DC charging peaks at 350kW, and 10-80% takes 20 minutes. The charge port is in the middle of the nose, behind a closed panel that replaces the grille. There’s a battery heating system and a heat pump. A 3-pin V2L outlet is on the right-hand side of the cargo area.
The diesel makes 130kW and uses 7.0L/100km. The Hybrid makes 180kW combined and uses 6.5L/100km.
Payload and Towing Against the Diesel and Hybrid
Cargo space is 4,935L (VDA), identical to the diesel and Hybrid. The load area measures 2,607mm long by 1,640mm wide, with 1,436mm of height.
Payload is 1,005kg, against 997kg for the diesel and 1,039kg for the Hybrid. Hyundai Staria Load Electric tows 2,000kg braked and 750kg unbraked. The diesel is rated at 2,500kg braked with the same 750kg unbraked, and the Hybrid isn’t rated to tow anything at all.
Steering is a rack-mounted electric system, and Hyundai fitted strut-mounted dynamic dampers and sound-absorbing tyres to the Electric. It rides on 17-inch steel wheels, and the paint choices are Creamy White or Shimmering Silver.
Styling changes include a closed front panel with a horizon garnish, and vertical taillights. Underbody covers are fitted at the front and under the rear floor, and there’s an Electric badge.
Cabin, Safety and Servicing
Hyundai Staria Load Electric uses the updated two-seat cabin and open centre console from the 2027 Staria Load, trimmed in Obsidian Black cloth. Gear selection is shift-by-wire through a twist stalk on the steering column, and there’s a 23.9L frunk.
Hyundai’s ccNC system drives a 12.3-inch multimedia screen and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, with satellite navigation and OTA updates. Bluelink connected services are free for 5 years and include remote climate control and SOS call, plus find my car and automatic collision notification.
There are 7 airbags, and the SmartSense package includes the following.

Hyundai Staria Load Electric servicing costs $686 at 24 months or 30,000km, and $708 at 48 months or 60,000km, including GST. The vehicle warranty is 7 years and unlimited kilometres, which is 5 years standard plus 2 more when the van is serviced at Hyundai. The 2-year extension excludes vehicles used for commercial application. The high-voltage battery is covered for 8 years or 160,000km.
