I30N is Hyundai’s Halo Car, with good reason.
i30N is a peach. The hot hatch sells for $44500, and has had a couple of oily updates. The engine now has 206kw, 4kw up on the old model. The DCT has en extra cog, and a wet clutch. That’s 8 glorious speeds to be fettled by paddles, or the console lever. As a consequence, the 0-100 has improved by 0.4 seconds, to 5.4 seconds for the mad dash.
Hyundai added extra driver aids too.

The N Grin control system gives 5 drive modes that alter characteristics of the engine, transmission, and electronic limited slip differential. Drive modes include: Eco, Normal, Sport and Sport+. If none of those suit, the driver can save custom settings in the individual mode.
Seating has been updated with an option of N Light seats for a weight saving of 2.2kg. they have bigger bolsters, and the N symbol lights up.
Ride and handling have been touched up, but i30N retrains the electronic suspension pof the outgoing model. The manual 6 speed gearbox is also carried over, but there are new wheels fitted with new tyres. Pirelli P-Zero have been specially developed for Hyundai’s best sports car.
Brakes have had a bit of love too. The disc increased from 345mm to 360mm which seems like it won’t make much difference, but it is on the track where it really counts. The red callipers peek through the 19” wheels. While we’re talking wheel, the alloys are now forged instead of cast. 14.4kg has been shaved off the weight, and the less unsprung weight the better.
