Iconic SS Jaguar Meets Future Type 00 in London for 90th Bash

Jaguar has dipped into its glamorous past to mark 90 years of fearless design, pairing the very first name-bearing SS Jaguar with the stunning new Type 00 in London. Outside The Chancery Rosewood — all mid-century elegance and modern British flair — the duo posed like queer icons from different decades bumping into each other at Mardi Gras.

Launched in 1935, the SS Jaguar introduced a name that would go on to shape automotive culture. With its low roofline, long bonnet, and “Copy Nothing” philosophy, it broke every rule of its era. Fast-forward ninety years and the Type 00 carries that same energy, reimagining what a Jaguar can be with bold curves, dramatic proportions, and a presence that all but shouts.

Jaguar boss Rawdon Glover says the mission hasn’t changed: be brave, be unexpected, be different. And with Jaguar preparing to launch its first production luxury GT in 2026, the Type 00 is the brand’s cheeky wink at its electric, design-led future — shown here in a brand-new, never-seen shade called “London Red.” Inspired by redbrick terraces, gallery walls, crimson phone boxes and the odd double-decker bus, it’s handcrafted glamour at its finest.

From the SS Jaguar through XK120, E-Type, XJS, and F-Type, every era has birthed a head-turner that refused to blend in. This anniversary pairing isn’t just nostalgic — it’s Jaguar reminding the world that elegance, daring design, and a little bit of attitude are timeless.
