The 2024 Nissan Patrol has had a couple of decent upgrades to bring it into the year properly dressed to impress. Patrol has been around for decades and it is easy to forget how capable the big SUV is, on-road and off. The capability carries over to the 2024 model, added to by some essential cabin technology for anyone who enjoys convenience.

Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto can be hit and miss with after market systems, and as Australia misses out on the left-hand-drive interior, another solution was found. Nissan Australia and Directed Technologies collaborated on a new 10.1-inch infotainment system which includes a touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay~ and wireless Android Auto.

Other improvements include twin USB ports (A and C), a new wireless smartphone charging pocket, a new full HD wide angle reversing camera, iGO Street Navigation and a 1-month free subscription to Hema 4×4 off-roading Navigation. Hema Maps began in 1983 with a range of printed land and marine maps.

Since then, starting in 1996 Hema Maps invested in new GPS technology that took advantage of the largest mapping expedition ever done by a private company in Australia. In 2007 digital maps have been kept current, giving users the ability to go anywhere, be it in town or in the bush.

Patrol also gains a front row centre cool box it the Ti, and a 7 seat (Ti-L) or 8 seat (Ti) seats option for those with a lot of friends for the trip. I might make the luggage space a bit tight though.

Off-road, Patrol continues with Intelligent 4X4 has electronic 4WD selection, a rear Helical limited-slip differential, and Hydraulic Body Motion Control suspension (HBMC).

The 2024 Nissan Patrol Ti and Ti-L is joined by a range topping Patrol Warrior by Premcar . They share a 298kW/560Nm 5.6-litre V8 and 7-speed automatic. The transmission has a manual mode and Adaptive Shift Control (ASC). Towing capacity is 3.5-tonne of braked load, just the ticket to carry the luggage of 7 or 8 heavy packers.

Directed Technologies Executive Director Brent Stafford said, “Directed Technologies is proud to be delivering Nissan the only multimedia device designed in Australia. Our homegrown expertise ensures the new cutting-edge upgrades will respond to rugged Australian conditions that are often driven by Nissan Patrol and Nissan Patrol Warrior owners.”
