New Y63 Nissan Patrol Has Aussie Grit in Its Gears

Move over Vegemite—there’s a new Aussie export making waves globally, and it comes with a twin-turbo V6. The all-new Y63 Nissan Patrol, set to land on Aussie shores in late 2026, proudly carries a piece of Victoria under its hood. That’s right, every Y63 Patrol—whether it’s carving up the dunes in Dubai or navigating Canadian snow—is fitted with a final drive differential housing made right here at Nissan’s Casting Australia Plant in Dandenong South.

This isn’t just some badge-engineered afterthought. It’s a true-blue Australian manufacturing success story, and it’s about time we shouted it from the rooftops (or at least the roof rack). With nearly 200 skilled workers producing over 1.2 million components annually for global markets, the plant also cranks out 16,000 tow bars for Australia and New Zealand. That’s a hell of a tow-load of Aussie know-how.

The new Y63 Patrol was officially revealed in Abu Dhabi back in September 2024, showing off a bold new design, a powerful twin-turbo V6, a slick nine-speed auto, and adaptive air suspension that’ll make your local corrugated track feel like silk. While it’s currently available only in left-hand drive for overseas markets like the USA, Canada, Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa, it’s already flexing serious potential as a global contender.

Nissan Oceania boss Andrew Humberstone summed it up best: “The Y63 Patrol isn’t just made for Australia—it’s partly made in Australia.” And we bloody love that.

When it finally arrives here in right-hand drive, expect all the luxury, off-road cred, and towing power the Patrol name is known for—plus a little Aussie-built pride every time you hit the throttle.
