Meet the 2025 MG QS: MG’s Budget 7-Seat SUV

MG Motor Australia has officially opened the order books for the all-new 2025 MG QS, a bold 7-seat SUV that made its debut at the Melbourne Motor Show. It’s a major milestone for MG, delivering space, style, and surprising specs at an ultra-competitive price point — and yes, it’s already making waves.

Available in two trims — the MG QS Excite and MG QS Essence — this full-sized SUV starts from just $46,990 drive-away (FWD Excite) and $50,990 drive-away (AWD Essence), but only for a limited time. Under the bonnet is a potent 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine pumping out 153kW and a hefty 360Nm, mated to a smooth 9-speed automatic. That’s plenty of grunt for the school run, a weekend beach dash, or a fully loaded family getaway.

Much like the 2024 Subaru Solterra Touring we recently reviewed on GayCarBoys.com, the MG QS blends family-friendly functionality with a surprising list of premium kit. Both variants come with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, an electric tailgate, and sleek 20” or 21” alloy wheels depending on spec. The roomy cabin features a versatile third row that folds flat for massive boot space — perfect for active families or your next IKEA pilgrimage.

While the QS Excite sends power to the front wheels sipping just 8.4L/100km, the QS Essence adds all-wheel drive capability and a modest increase in fuel use to 8.8L/100km (WLTP). MG’s legendary 10-year warranty and a national network of nearly 100 dealerships only sweeten the deal.

MG’s local boss, Peter Ciao, put it best: “People have been asking for a big MG SUV — and here it is. For families, for sport runs, for daily life. It fits more, does more, and looks damn good doing it.”

We’re eager to see how the QS stacks up in the real world — could this be Australia’s best-value 7-seater? Keep an eye on GayCarBoys.com for the full hands-on review.
