Nissan has debuted the second of its Japan Mobility Show concepts, the Nissan Hyper Adventure. Nissan has pushed the boat out, with every single idea finding place in the lineup, some even answering questions of sustained remote travel.

Car design is no longer restricted to a couple of scribbles on a cocktail napkin, leading to bigger sketches and a clay model. It is a digital process making a statement long before the physical model ever sees the light of day.

Nissan Hyper Adventure is a sports SUV designed for people passionate about outdoor adventures and an eco-friendly lifestyle. A long trip needs to be powered, so the Nissan Hyper Adventure concept has V2X (vehicle-to-everything) technology to give its user access to power any time, anywhere. The Nissan Hyper Adventure not only powers itself, but appliances, campsites, homes, and can be used to store excess energy from the grid if needed. One of the biggest questions with renewable power production is what to do with unused energy.

Nissan Hyper Adventure can power a weekend trip to picturesque local mountain spots, or an extended adventure to far-flung spot, secreted deep within the wilderness. The Nissan Hyper Adventure’s aim is to satisfy the every need of the outdoorsy types.

For example, the large-capacity battery allows users to power up their gadgets, light up campsites, or even recharge their electric jet skis. Its V2X capability can also power homes (V2H) or help power balance in the wider grid (V2G).

Nissan’s e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive gives the all-weather grip adventurers want, so those remote sites are well within reach.

Outside:

Nissan has given the concept SUV a cutting edge look, or at least, cutting edge in theory. Most concepts will never make it into production. If a car really opened up as this one does, it would probably collapse. But, the it is nice to dream anyway.

The panels allow the indoors-outdoors experience by opening the interior almost completely. Every line, groove, and crevice performs a function, by redirecting the air in and around the body. The surface is smooth thanks to glass that integrates the roof and side windows and the flush surface of the rear end. The wheels and front and rear bumpers have crampons (snow traction gears) required for alpine performance.

The Cabin:

The interior is as smooth and sexy as the exterior. The driver’s instrument panel connects to the bottom of the windshield, serving as a screen with a wide field of view making the body appear transparent.

The cargo space gives loads of space for skis, and larger items like a kayak. The clever rear bench seat swivels 180 degrees giving occupants a sitting area that faces out of the vehicle’s rear. Pair this to the automatic extendable/retractable steps, useful for camping, skiing, or just taking in a postcard-like scene at the top of a peak.

Nissan Hyper Adventure concept is intended to be a companion for outdoor adventure, and will be displayed digitally at the Japan Mobility Show.

A special music video will stream live on the Nissan YouTube channel until October 25. As each of Nissan’s concept cars are revealed leading up to the show they will appear in the video.
