China has been on the phone again, and this time it’s an Ottocast MCM11 Flex Vacuum Magnetic Phone Mount on offer for review. For $48 you get an “aircraft grade” aluminium flexible mount with a MagSafe head.
It arrived fast and was excellent quality. While we weren’t sure it worked better than a $4 suction cup MagSafe holder, it was a lot classier.
Think of it as a Father’s Day gift for the man who has it all.
The generic box arrived with only the cards for operation, rings for non-MagSafe devices, and the MCM11 Flex itself.
Where the MCM11 Flex Will Stick
It only works on shiny surfaces so in cars you might use it on glass or piano black consoles. Otto says you can plonk it on the car’s entertainment screen. I’m not sure you want to ever do that, but kids in the back seat will get a firm place for the pads and phones for long trips.
We tried it at home on our kitchen bench and a couple of mirrors. It’s a great way to mount it while you watch a cooking video.

How to Use It
- Make sure it’s charged using the USB-C and any charger you have handy. It should last 90 days, but we found 30-60 days would likely be more to the mark.
- It’s easier to unfold it first, turn it on using the power button, then push firmly onto the surface. The motor will whir away for a bit while it sucks the air out. Should the device sense a lack of suck, it will suck again, and keep sucking.
- To release, press and hold the suck button to change suck to blow, and POOF, off it goes right into your hand.
Top Tip: Make sure the surfaces are clean.
The suck noise from the pump is quite noticeable. It’s either a sign of quality or not. You decide.
