Sacrilege Motors has partnered with powertrain supplier Fellten to convert Classic cars into EVs, starting with a Concours-ready classic Porsche 911.
Fellten is a Bristol UK company that claims to be the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of systems used in converting classic cars into electric vehicles.
Fellten’s state-of-the-art electric powertrains are recognised by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), being named as a Tier 1 supplier. Fellten has created EV-conversion systems for many classic cars, beginning with the classic Porsche 911. The company is no shrinking violet when it comes to being show-offs either, having previously worked with film studios to convert on-screen cars to all-electric power. We’ve reported on the BMW classic mini EV restoration service before, so it is no surprise the big German chose Fellten has been chosen for the Classic Mini Recharged project.
Sacrilege Motors is working with Fellten to design and build systems exclusive to Sacrilege Motors for future client conversion projects. It means that a client can bring their own car for a conversion to a system that is standard, as opposed to cobbling together a Frankenstein creation with each project.

ABOVE: Sacrilege Motors Porsche 911 “Blackbird” EV – debuts at Pebble Beach
The first commission saw Sacrilege Motors restore and EV-convert a Porsche 911 America Roadster (a U.S. version of the Carrera 2 Cabriolet Turbo-look) which is one of 250 built. Its owner dubbed the conversion car “BLACKBIRD”, named for the supersonic SR-71 Blackbird aircraft. The shiny Porsche EV conversion will be on display at the Monterey Car Week. Onlookers will see the car on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
“With our Porsche 911 commissions, we’ve set very demanding performance and reliability targets,” Bobby Singh, president and technical lead of Sacrilege Motors, said. “Fellten hits those targets completely. They build their system like an OEM would—the way it’s engineered, designed and blueprinted—allowing us to focus on the driving dynamics, and on maintaining the soul of these classic Porsche 911s.”
“Staying true to the spirit of the original 911 is paramount for us, Sacrilege Motors CEO Phil Wagenheim said, “and Fellten will help us preserve the classic feel of the Porsches we restore. They are setting the standard for the industry, and will be an important technical partner in the future development of Sacrilege Motors conversion projects.”
“With our Porsche 911 powertrain system, we were very particular about keeping the weight distribution the same,” Chris Hazell, CEO of Fellten, said. “Otherwise you’re changing the handling characteristics, and that’s not a Porsche. At Sacrilege Motors, they have a passion and a love of the car, and they know Porsche 911s so well. They do what they do best, restoring and modifying a legend, and we do what we do best, developing the best power system—and when you put the two together, it’s magical.”
Sacrilege Motors formed in 2020 backed by CEO Phil Wagenheim and Porsche expert driver and tuner Bobby Singh. It has crafted a familiar Porsche 911, minus the classic car issues. Almost all of the problems that come with owning an old car are replaced during the EV conversion, and handling improvements have made it better than new.
