MG to Continue Centenary Celebrations at Salon Privé 2024 with Show-Stopping Electric Line-Up
Buckle up, folks! MG is kicking its 100th-anniversary celebrations into high gear at Salon Privé 2024, where the British icon will show off its latest electric marvels. The star of the show? The MG Cyber GTS Concept, making one of its first public appearances after a sneaky debut earlier this year. And if that’s not enough to get your motor running, the MG Cyberster roadster, fresh from its grand entrance into showrooms this August, will also be making an appearance.
A Century of Speed and Style: MG Takes the Spotlight
MG is rolling out the big guns for this year’s Salon Privé, the UK’s fanciest automotive garden party, held at the palatial Blenheim Palace from 28-31 August. As part of its centenary bash, MG will showcase the jaw-dropping MG Cyber GTS Concept. This electric stunner nods to the brand’s racing roots, tipping its hat to the legendary MGC GTS Sebring that made waves back in 1968 at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
For those not in the know, that’s the race where the MGC GTS Sebring, fondly nicknamed “Mable,” made history by finishing 10th overall and grabbing third place in its category. This was no small feat considering it was up against some exotic prototypes that had nothing in common with your everyday sports cars. Hats off to legends Paddy Hopkirk and Andrew Hedges for that one!

The Future Meets the Past: MG Cyber GTS Concept
Fast forward to today, and the MG Cyber GTS Concept is here to pay tribute to Mable’s glory days. Draped in the ever-classic British Racing Green, this sleek coupe combines the spirit of the 1960s racer with MG’s cutting-edge EV tech. It’s a rear-wheel-drive beast that promises a lot of power and even more excitement. MG’s keeping the technical specs close to their chest for now, which only adds to the allure. What we do know is that it’s an homage to the past, and a bold statement for the future of MG.
And MG isn’t stopping there. They’ve hinted that the Cyber GTS Concept is just a teaser of what’s to come – a new generation of GTS models in the EV era, following the lead of the world’s first open-top EV two-seater to go into production, the MG Cyberster.
Electrifying Performance: MG Cyberster Roadster
Speaking of which, the MG Cyberster roadster will also be on display at Salon Privé, ready to turn heads and drop jaws. Available in both single and dual motor versions, the Cyberster offers a solid 77kWh battery and a range of up to 316 miles. And if you fancy a bit more oomph, the dual motor Cyberster GT packs a whopping 503bhp, shooting from 0 to 62 mph in a blistering 3.2 seconds. Now, that’s what I call electrifying!
Price: the long-range MG Cyberster Trophy starts at just £54,995, and if you’re eyeing the high-performance GT, it’s still a steal at £59,995.
Join the Party: Salon Privé 2024
Salon Privé Director David Bagley couldn’t be more thrilled about MG’s lineup. “MG is a much-loved brand by so many Salon Privé enthusiasts,” he says. And who can blame him for being excited? With the MG Cyber GTS Concept making its first big splash and the Cyberster roadster already winning hearts (and press accolades), it’s shaping up to be a centenary celebration to remember.
And if you fancy getting behind the wheel, MG is offering test drives of the Cyberster and the all-new HS from Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th. Just swing by the MG stand to book your slot – but be quick, they’re limited and in high demand!
So, grab your tickets, mark your calendars, and get ready to see what the future holds for MG at Salon Privé 2024. It’s going to be electric!

The Glitz and Glamour of Salon Privé: A Car Lover’s Paradise
Now, let’s talk about Salon Privé itself—because this isn’t just any car show. It’s the automotive equivalent of a five-star soirée, the place where elegance and horsepower meet. Every year, car enthusiasts, collectors, and industry experts from around the globe flock to this prestigious event, held on the magnificent grounds of Blenheim Palace. Picture it: a rolling landscape of immaculate lawns, dotted with some of the rarest and most beautiful machines ever built. It’s like a daydream for anyone with petrol running through their veins!
Salon Privé isn’t just about looking, though. The event features a concours d’élégance competition where meticulously restored and rare cars are judged on their beauty, history, and condition. It’s like watching a parade of automotive perfection, each car more stunning than the last. And then there’s Supercar Saturday, where the latest high-performance supercars rev their engines and strut their stuff. It’s the place to be if you want to see and experience the newest beasts in the supercar jungle.
Driving for a Cause: Salon Privé’s Charity Partner
But there’s more to Salon Privé than just shiny cars and polished chrome. This year, they’re proudly supporting the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). It’s not all glitz and glamour; there’s a heart beating behind the horsepower. By partnering with the NSPCC, Salon Privé aims to make a real difference in the lives of children, raising much-needed funds to support life-changing services. All the glitz and glamour come with a purpose: to protect children from abuse and neglect, offering vital support to those who need it most across the UK and Channel Islands.
So, while you’re sipping champagne and ogling over the MG Cyber GTS Concept and Cyberster, remember that every ticket sold and every donation made is helping to safeguard a child’s future. It’s not just a celebration of MG’s centenary; it’s a celebration of giving back.
Mark your calendars, folks! This is one party you don’t want to miss.
