Suzuki Fronx Hybrid Launches in Australia Packed with Gear

Suzuki Australia has just unveiled the All-New Fronx Hybrid, and it’s fair to say the small SUV market has a new head-turner. This compact crossover isn’t just another badge refresh – it’s Suzuki’s first brand-new nameplate in more than a decade. And at $28,990 RRP plus on-roads, it could be the most feature-rich light SUV in the segment, but, that name – what were they thinking?

Urban Styling with an Edge

The name “Fronx” comes from Frontier Crossover, and you can see why. Its coupe-style profile, sporty stance and sleek LED lighting set it apart from the sea of boxy competitors. The expressive colour palette includes vibrant two-tone options such as Lucent Orange and Opulent Red with contrasting Bluish Black Pearl roofs, while Celestial Blue and Arctic White offer a more classic vibe. LED headlamps, a roof-integrated spoiler, 16” polished alloys and shark-fin antenna finish the look.

Premium Cabin, Small SUV Footprint

Step inside, and you’re met with a surprisingly premium space. Soft-touch materials, a black-and-Bordeaux theme, leather-accented seats (heated up front), a centre-console armrest and a leather-wrapped tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel create a refined environment. The cabin also packs plenty of tech:

  • 9” infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
  • Heads-Up Display (HUD) projecting key data in your line of sight
  • Wireless phone charging, 4 speakers & 2 tweeters
  • 360-degree view camera, electric parking brake and climate control

Despite its compact exterior, the Fronx Hybrid offers generous space for passengers and luggage, making it ideal for city living, downsizers or families who want a versatile second car.

Hybrid Power Meets Sports Mode Fun

Under the bonnet, Suzuki’s 1.5L DualJet Smart Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) combines petrol power with an Integrated Starter Generator for electric assist and efficient stop/start operation. Paired with a six-speed automatic, it delivers a frugal 4.9L/100km combined fuel economy – perfect for commuters – while maintaining Suzuki’s fun-to-drive personality.

When you want a bit more spark, Sports Mode sharpens throttle response and gearbox behaviour for a livelier drive. Whether it’s weekday traffic or weekend coastal runs, the Fronx Hybrid keeps things engaging.

Safety as Standard

Safety hasn’t been skimped on. All Fronx Hybrids come with Suzuki’s comprehensive safety suite:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control & Lane Keep Assist
  • Dual Sensor Brake Support II (DSBS-II)
  • Blind Spot Monitor & Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Traffic Sign Recognition & Weaving Alert
  • High Beam Assist and front/rear parking sensors

Global Hit, Ready for Australia

The Fronx Hybrid isn’t starting from zero. Globally, over 229,000 units have already been sold (April 2024–April 2025), including more than 100,000 units in India in just ten months. It’s already collected silverware too, named Subcompact SUV of the Year in India and a finalist in the 2024 World Car Awards Urban Car category.

Michael Pachota, Suzuki Australia General Manager – Automobile, summed it up:

“We wanted the Fronx Hybrid to deliver an experience that feels special from the moment you sit behind the wheel. It brings innovation, comfort and energy to the light SUV category, without the premium price tag.”

Pre-Orders Open Now

Available exclusively in a top-grade automatic, the Fronx Hybrid is on sale now, with deliveries from 1st September. Premium single-tone paint adds $745, while two-tone finishes cost $1,345 – but given the spec list (HUD, 360-degree camera, heated seats and more) there’s still exceptional value.

Compact, clever and characterful, the Suzuki Fronx Hybrid isn’t just Suzuki’s next SUV – it’s a statement.
