Volvo Car Corporation has chosen electronic equipment supplier Mitsubishi Electric Corporation as partner for the next generation infotainment system for future Volvo cars.

“We are very happy to have Mitsubishi Electric Corporation as a partner,” says Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation. “Their world-leading knowledge and experience will bring the infotainment system in our cars up to an entirely new level.

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will supply the central module and be the main supplier for the overall infotainment system. This is an important step in Volvo Car Corporation’s aim to spearhead the development of world-class connectivity features in cars.

All intuitive technology that is available at the driver’s fingertip is included in Volvo Car Corporation’s recently established Sensus brand.

Sensus is the interface that promotes instinctive communication with the car, connecting it to the driver’s digital world – and the central Infotainment module is a core component in this web of interactivity.

Charging hardware with intelligent content

Volvo Car Corporation’s next challenge is to continue charging the infotainment system with intelligent content that offers the car owner easy, intuitive access to support, information and entertainment.

“We design our cars around people’s needs and lifestyle. The extended cooperation with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, who have been a supplier to Volvo Car Corporation for many years, paves the way for integrating new, user-friendly Infotainment and connectivity features in our cars,” says Stefan Jacoby.

“With Mitsubishi Electric Corporation as a strategic partner we also reinforce our standalone position in the automotive world.”

driving any of the new generation Volvos is an experience to behold. The T6 S60 is superb especially with all the bells and whistles. I’m fond of self parking (which we have in our Focus Titanium) and the active cruise control and lane departure warning system are fantastic. I’ve tested the City Safe and other systems on the race track at a volvo demo day. Fabulous.
