Will Brown Returns to Hyundai for TCR World Tour China Round

Reigning Supercars Champion Will Brown is back where it all began — behind the wheel of a Hyundai for HMO Customer Racing. The 27-year-old Queenslander will step in for Josh Buchan at next weekend’s TCR World Tour round at the Zhuzhou International Circuit in China.

Brown, who first made his mark winning the inaugural TCR Australia Championship in 2019 with HMO, will sub for Buchan while the latter makes his Ferrari 296 GT3 debut in the GT World Challenge Australia. Buchan will return for the season finale in Macau, but for now, Brown’s out to keep the Hyundai flag flying high — and maybe add another bit of silverware to his crowded cabinet.

He’s no stranger to Hyundai’s racing family. Brown won 15 races, stood on 30 podiums, and was the first Aussie to win a TCR World Tour event, taking two emphatic victories at Sydney Motorsport Park in 2023. It’s a reunion with a team that knows how to go fast — and go loud.

Brown will drive the i30 Sedan N TCR, a snarling, turbocharged front-driver that’s proven its bite across global touring car circuits. Teammate Ryan MacMillan, a promising 18-year-old fellow Queenslander, showed his grit in South Korea with top-ten runs and elbows-out duels against former world champs. Together, the pair aim to keep HMO’s front-running form alive on the tight, technical 3.77 km Zhuzhou track.

Aussie fans can stream the whole weekend live on TCR TV’s YouTube channel, starting October 31. For Brown, it’s not just another cameo — it’s a full-circle moment. After all, the chemistry between a driver and his old flame can still spark fireworks, even halfway across the world.
