The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is the brand’s most advanced model yet. It will set some teeth to grinding and other will be cheering. The partial electrification has given, what is already a beast of a car, a boost of juice.
Although E-Vette sounds better, the new Corvette will be called the e-Ray, something more akin to a 60’s Sci-Fi drama. It debuts in Australia and New Zealand this month. The e-Ray heralds a shining new era for the brand, and in electrified AWD performance.
Corvette e-Ray will come to Australia and New Zealand only as a 3LZ Coupe.
The E-Ray mates Corvette Stingray’s LT2 6.2L V8 engine to an electric motor on the front axle. The resulting power increase brings the total to a mountainous 488kW/806Nm, good for a 0 to 97km/h (60mph) in just 2.5 seconds. You can had half an eye blink for the 0-100kph figures.

The E-Ray uses Chevrolet’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission allowing drivers the freedom of both automatic and manual modes. The addition of the electrified AWD adds further balance to an already brilliant handler. Additionally, there are carbon-ceramic brakes and the high-performance ZER Performance Package, which includes Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, Magnetic Ride Control suspension, and a track-ready spoiler.
Jess Bala, Managing Director of General Motors Australia and New Zealand, describes the E-Ray as the most eagerly anticipated Corvette model to date. She highlights its blend of current performance and future electrification as a game-changer for drivers in both countries.
E-Ray’s powertrain blends a 119kW electric motor with a mid-mounted LT2 V8 engine, delivering a volcanic 488kW. As with all hybrids, even mild hybrids, Corvette e-Ray uses a small 1.9-kWh lithium-ion battery that self-charges using regenerative energy from braking and normal driving.
e-Ray’s aggressive look is both muscular and athletic, is available in 14 exterior, and has drive modes, including a unique Stealth Mode, whose electric-only operation permits a silent drive of shame the morning after.
