The 2026 Tesla Model 3has officially landed in Australia and New Zealand, bringing more range, fresh tech, a tyre rescue service, and even blacked-out badging. For buyers wondering if the world’s best-selling EV had more to give, Tesla has answered with a loud, battery-powered yes.

Model 3 Performance Gets More Stamina

The 2026 Tesla Model 3 Performance now packs an upgraded NMC (Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt) battery that pushes its WLTP range from 528km to 571km. That’s paired with the usual Tesla thrills: 343kW of power, a 0–100 km/h time of 3.1 seconds, and a top speed of 261km/h. Pricing starts at $80,900 AUD and $84,900 NZD before on-road costs.

Tesla says this update makes the 2026 Model 3 Performance one of the most efficient performance EVs on the road today — a rare mix of adrenaline and economy.

All-New Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive

More importantly for road trippers, there’s a brand-new 2026 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive. With a WLTP range of up to 750km on 18-inch wheels, it takes the title of longest-range EV in Australia and New Zealand (as of October 2025). Even on the optional 19-inch Nova wheels, you still get 691km.

Prices begin at $61,900 AUD and $71,900 NZD, with orders open now, test drives from late October, and deliveries starting in November. Every 2026 Tesla Model 3 sold locally will continue to be built at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai.

Safety and Style Updates

Every 2026 Tesla Model 3 comes with subtle styling tweaks — including the new black Tesla badging — and a choice of five colours, from Pearl White Multi-Coat to Ultra Red. Inside, buyers can stick with a black interior or opt for white at extra cost.

Tesla also confirmed the 2026 Model 3 retains its 5-star ANCAP and Euro NCAP safety ratings, scoring especially high for child occupant and vulnerable road user protection under the tougher 2023–2025 testing criteria. That’s thanks to advanced airbags, a fortified battery pack, an active bonnet, and a cabin child presence detection system.

Supercharger Network Hits 1003 Posts

To keep those batteries topped up, Tesla’s Supercharger network in Australia and New Zealand has grown to 1003 posts across 163 locations. On a road trip, plugging into a Supercharger can add 282km of range in just 15 minutes — usually enough time for a coffee stop, though sadly the 2026 Tesla Model 3 won’t pack your picnic basket for you.

Tyre Repair and Loaner Wheel Service

Tesla also unveiled an overlooked but practical service: a mobile tyre repair and loaner wheel program. A technician can come to you for puncture repair or roadside tyre replacement. If a proper fix isn’t possible, they’ll fit a Tesla loaner wheel so you can keep driving while your damaged wheel is assessed at a Service Centre. The service is available 24/7 via Roadside Assistance in the Tesla app.

That means a flat tyre in your 2026 Tesla Model 3 doesn’t have to ruin your weekend — just order a latte while the van sorts you out.

Wrap-Up

So what’s new? A longer-legged 2026 Tesla Model 3 Performance, an all-new Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive with up to 750km range, a bigger Supercharger network, and a roadside tyre rescue program. It’s less a facelift, more a rethink of what EV ownership looks like in Australia and New Zealand.

The only thing missing? A self-driving picnic basket. Maybe that’s a 2027 feature.
