Carmakers try to whip up a bit of frenzy by releasing teaser pics of upcoming models, and Chery is no exception. The Omoda 7 teaser is little more than a vague outline but shows an SUV slightly bigger than the enormously successful Omoda 5.
Omoda 5 was launched a year ago in an attempt to re-introduce Chery to ever-more crowded choice. The opposition, including carmakers from Korea and Japan, made cheap and cheerful cars for a market segment with extra slim wallets, but have now abandoned that segment to the Chinese manufacturers. Chinese made cars are now making a huge impact whether the brands themselves are Chinese or not.

To the end, Chery is expanding its model line up with the Omoda 7, which the company claims “will lead the way into a new era of mobility.” Omoda 7 will launch at the Beijing Auto Show this year, and sit above the Omoda 5.
The Omoda models will share technology and safety features, with Chery promising their latest SUV will build on these credentials.
OMODA 7 makes its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show on April 28. It will be joined by the all-electric E5, which will arrive to Australian showrooms in the second half of 2024.
