21 year old F2 driver, Nikita Mazepin, apologised for a video posted on social media.

The video appears to show Mazepin groping a young woman on her breast. She swipes the hand away and raises a middle finger. Her actions infer his advances were uninvited and unwelcome.

HAAS racing issued the following statements:

“Haas F1 Team does not condone the behaviour of Nikita Mazepin in the video recently posted on his social media,” the statement reads.

“Additionally, the very fact the video was posted on social media is also abhorrent to Haas F1 Team.

“The matter is being dealt with internally and no further comment shall be made at this time.”

Mazepin apologised and his future is under review.

The young woman said on social media:

“Hi guys, I just want to let you know Nikita and I have been good friends for a long time and nothing from that video was serious at all!” she wrote.

“We trust each other so much and this was a silly way of joking between us.

“I posted this video on his story as an internal joke. I am truly sorry.

“I can give you my word he’s a really good person and he would never do anything to hurt me or humiliate me.”

F1 racing claims it does not tolerate violence, including violence against women. F1 also claims the matter is being examined and dealt with internally.

Although the woman defended Mazepin, the assault highlights a current trend of behaviour such as this going unpunished.
