Hyundai has ramped up the product releases with IONIQ 5 selling out in under 2 hours.
Interest was so great, that the website had issues. The initial allotment of only 240 cars were snapped up, with interest registered for further. Hyundai says they’ve been able to weather the world shortages in semiconductors but there are still issues remaining from the ongoing Covid Pandemic.
Hyundai confirmed a further allotment of IONIQ 5 Electric SUVs won’t arrive until 2022, and that orders for those won’t be taken until the supply has been secured.
The cars upscale charging to 800v in some cases, have a Vehicle to load function, and come in rear, or AWD.

Sales are via the Hyundai website, and the ultra-modern electric SUV looks set to catapult Hyundai into the EV leadership. Questions about the price seem to have been put to rest by the sales frenzy this morning.
We drive the IONIQ 5 next week, so watch out for details.
This week, we are in Hyundai’s NEXO Hydrogen Fuel Cell SUV. The first impressions have been extremely favourable.
NEXO uses an electric motor, with energy stored as hydrogen. There is a small battery to capture energy captured during braking and coasting. Fleet buyers are best placed to take advantage, with fuelling stations limited to only a few locations nation-wide.
It’s a big SUV, full of luxury appointments, but on first glance, seems to have a few essentials missing. Our video review will drop early next week.
