Jeep Announces Fully Electric SUV

The world is moving ever closer to the tipping point whereby punters will prefer electric vehicles over other drivetrains. Stellantis has many brands, including Jeep, in its portfolio, some of whom are already well on the way to electrification.

During the Stellantis’ Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan presentation on the 1st of March, Carlos Tavares, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Stellantis, revealed images of the first-ever 100 per cent battery-electric Jeep SUV.

Like other automotive brands, Stellantis continues its global initiatives toward the full electrification of its SUV portfolio. This new fully electric Jeep vehicle will be launched early next year, expanding the brand reach and taking the next step to the achievement of Jeep brand’s vision of Zero Emission Freedom. More information on the Jeep BEV will be released in the coming months.

Australia has been slow to take up the electric mantle with petrol cars still making up the majority of vehicles sold here. Further more, more than 80% of vehicles are made in Asia, in factories in Japan, Thailand, and South Korea. Chinese manufacture accounted for 6,264 of the 75,863 vehicles sold in January ’22.

For passenger vehicles there were 120 EV, 2 hydrogen, and 24 PHEV’s sold. SUV sales saw 500 EV, 1 hydrogen, and 283 PHEV’s units finding homes. There are no electric light commercial vehicles, and heavy vehicles such as buses, are not reported.
