Kia a trio of official teaser images of their all-new 5th generation Sportage.

There will be a full reveal happen in July at the Korean HQ. The pics don’t tell us too much, but design appears to be further developing the language from Seltos,Sorento/Carnival.

The language – Opposites United which KIA claims” is at the core of the Sportage”. The current Sportage has been a huge hit, so any tinkering with the formula is a risk. If it follows Sorento in any way, it should be an exciting prospect.

Gay car Boy readers have said how much they liked the look of Sorento and Seltos in comments of those reviews.

Kia recently rebrand itself as a final nod to shaking off old Kia, and welcoming this new direction. The Korean car maker is exploring “sustainable mobility solutions”, highlighted by new eco models revealed in March. The EV6 is a BEV, showing that a battery powered car can sexy. Recent comments by our federal government have done nothing to slow the march of EV production, even if Australia is considered a backwater by world auto production.

Australia lags EV uptake by some considerable margin. A lack of charging infrastructure and the high cost of EVs means buyers are preferring hybrids to full EV models.

Aggressive exterior and cutting edge modern interior

Sportage will have an even more striking silhouette than Seltos. It includes crisp, tight character lines that give surfaces added interest. The front has a detailed-orientated black grille graphic spanning the width of the face.

At the rear, the striking shoulder line makes a gentle drop to meet quite slim daytime-running lamps. These new-design DTRLs sit either side of the new Kia logo and Sportage emblem.

The interior design sketch show a single driver-orientated LCD screen incorporating driving instruments, and the infotainment system. It properly integrates the screens as we’ve seen in posh brands like Mercedes Benz. The integrated curved display swoops across the dash and is bounded by large centre vents.

Kia has stepped up the quality of the interiors, with 3 of the last models having a new cabin design.

“Taking inspiration from an ethos we created where nature meets technology, the all-new Sportage challenges the norm with an adventurous and contemporary exterior and a carefully conceived, beautifully detailed interior,” said Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Design Center. “With the all-new Sportage, we were fully focused on challenging ourselves and pushing our fifth-generation SUV to a new level.”
