Lexus will soon launch the all-new RX large SUV with hybrid and petrol models, and a performance hybrid flagship.

5Th generation RX builds on the back of the world’s first hybrid “luxury” SUV in 2006. The RX 400h proved popular, selling 9,794 in Australia over the last 16 years.

The all-new RX goes on sale in early 2023.

The RX range will include RX 350h 2WD and RX 350h AWD HEVs, turbocharged RX 350 AWD petrol, and the RX 500h F Sport Performance model with new levels of electrified performance.

Lexus Australia Chief Executive John Pappas said the launch of an all-new RX is exciting for Australia given its popularity and importance to this market.

“RX is synonymous with Lexus in Australia. It has helped forge the Lexus brand here, pioneering the luxury SUV concept and winning customers with its refined luxury and thoughtful design.

“The all-new RX builds on the model’s long-standing qualities but now encapsulates it in a thoroughly modern and more sporting package that still delivers high on comfort and elegance.

“The Lexus human-centred Tazuna concept builds the interior around the occupants with considered design touches to enhance the experience for driver and passengers alike. The RX is not only a great car to drive, but a great car to ride in.”

The new RX 350h has a 184kW 2.5-litre inline-four hybrid powertrain, in either 2WD or  AWD for that extra grip.

RX petrol models include the 205kW RX 350 AWD with its 2.4-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine.

The range topper is the RX 500h F Sport Performance HEV – F Sport with a 273kW turbocharged 2.4-litre inline-four hybrid AWD powertrain. The RX 500h F Sport Performance has a high-output eAxle rear motor and DIRECT4 all-wheel drive force system. Performance needs braking, and LEXUS uses six-piston front brakes, with handling aided by adaptive variable suspension, and dynamic rear steering. It rides on 21-inch aluminium wheels, to give the flagship the look a range topper deserves..

Like the recently introduced new NX and LX, the RX also pursues a unique identity with optimised proportions portraying a dynamic driving experience. While retaining its overall length of 4,890mm2, the all-new RX features a more striking exterior with the trademark Lexus spindle grille design now expressed in a more three-dimensional form, evolving into a new expression called the spindle body.

New RX is 60mm longer in the Wheelbase (to 2,850mm), with the distance between the front and rear hip points up by 12mm. there is more cabin space in the luggage area, which has an added 50mm.
Width is up by 25mm (to 1,920mm), front track widened by 15mm, rear track by 45mm and overall height reduced by 10mm (1,695mm). clever design sees a 15mm reduction in centre of gravity and overall weight reduction by 90kg, which LEXUS claims has improved ride, handling, and performace.

All-new RX promises class-leading equipment levels and the very latest in active and passive safety aids.
Since 1998, more than 3.5 million RX’s finding homes, making RX  the best-selling Lexus globally today.

Australian RX’s appeared in 2003, selling 41,686 units to the end of July 2022, meaning the RX SUVs make up one-in-four LEXUS sales since the brand’s launch.

Final specification and pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
