In an ongoing charm offensive, Lotus‘ new Eletre electric SUV was driven by potential UK buyers at the Goodwood Motor Circuit yesterday. These first test drives were intended both as a way to get bums on seats, and the Eletre in front of as many media as possible
Those in the know are aware of the fact that any brand who doesn’t have an SUV probably won’t be around in a few years’ time. Lotus has taken the bull by the horns by making their first SUV an all-electric affair. Potential customers were able to experience hyper-car performance in the new SUV Lotus claims its immersive digital cockpit is all part of the new electric vehicle experience , with the event being staged in conjunction with the Festival of Speed.
Driver feedback on the Eletre has been positive if the comments are anything to go by.

Hyper-SUVs have become a thing, and those powered by battery are leading the charge, pardon the pun. The Lotus Eletre takes electric performance, and gives it a generous dose of 75 years’ worth of Lotus DNA, and the result is a look that is as polarising as its performance.
It is aimed at a new generation of Lotus customers. Lotus cars of old have been bijou but fun. New customers want more, they want the thrilling of Lotus performance and striking design, but like the rest of the world, want something more practical. The spacious SUV is not just designed for two, but rather aimed at the family-focused buyer wanting cutting edge digital technology and battery electric crdntials.
The Eletre takes the soul of the Emira, and aerodynamics Evija hypercar, mixing them to make a hyper-SUV. Lotus claims class-leading ride and handling, steering and aero performance, a place where Lotus excels. Lotus has both pioneered and dominated throughout its 75-year history in road and race cars. It is also the epitome of beautiful design, efficient and elegant engineering solutions, advanced materials, innovation and ingenuity.
