Forget everything you thought you knew about electric sports cars. Mercedes-AMG has just dropped the CONCEPT AMG GT XX, and it’s a statement—not a whisper—about the future of performance. With over 1,000kW of power, three ultra-compact axial flux motors, and a 360km/h+ top speed, it’s what you get when F1 engineers and UK motor boffins lock themselves in a room with no adult supervision.

Built on AMG’s own EV platform (AMG.EA), it’s loaded with motorsport-grade DNA, lightning-fast charging, and intelligent thermal wizardry that keeps performance pinned to the redline—again and again. Developed in partnership with YASA and drawing on Formula 1 tech from Brixworth and Affalterbach, this isn’t an EV, it’s a jolt of electricity wearing a sunset beam orange party dress.

Engineering the Electric Beast
Two HP.EDUs—one front, one rear—house three axial flux motors with oil-cooled gearsets and water-cooled inverters using silicon carbide for next-level conductivity. The front motor acts as a smart booster, cutting in only when extra grunt is needed. It disconnects during coasting for efficiency and reconnects seamlessly for acceleration and regen braking. The result? More than 1,000kW of sustained, repeatable thrust that shames most combustion hypercars.

Formula 1 Battery Brilliance
AMG’s all-new HP.EB (High Performance Electric Battery) packs over 800 volts, full-tab cylindrical cells, and laser-welded aluminium casings. A futuristic coolant—an electrically non-conductive oil—flows around each of the 3,000+ cells for pinpoint thermal regulation. Heat is dissipated fast, ensuring full power is available seconds after charging. Speaking of charging, it hits over 850kW at 1000A with Alpitronic’s custom charger—nearly as quick as a fuel stop.

Smart, Sexy, and Safe
The battery is central to the AMG.EA platform, structurally integrated for rigidity and crash safety. The body-in-white uses a blend of aluminium, carbon, and fibre composites for strength without weight. Cooling systems aren’t just efficient—they’re sculptural, using underbody airflow and active louvers to minimise drag or open up for maximum cooling when needed.

Design to Devour Air and Eyes
The AMG GT XX wears its drama on its sleeve. The low, sculpted body slices the air at cd=0.198, with motorsport-inspired details like active aero blades in the wheels, integrated air curtains, carbon diffusers, and an MBUX Fluid Light Panel that can talk to the world via pixelated animations. Need more drama? How about glowing paint and speakers in the headlights. Yes, really.

Interior: Future-Ready and Fiercely Queer
Inside, it’s a minimalist motorsport fantasy. The cockpit is all black with hot orange detailing, like a nightclub that happens to pull 1,300hp. Visible body structures, orange high-voltage-style pipes, and two slick displays dominate the dash. A 3D-printed seat system custom-fits to your bod, swaddled in LABFIBER—a biotech leather alternative made from recycled GT3 race tyres. Even the door handles are stitched from synthetic silk made by genetically modified bacteria. Your queer science professor would weep with pride.
