Australia’s Mercedes-Maybach S-Class line-up doubles. A V8 S 580 4MATIC joins the V12 S 680 4MATIC at $517,900 MRLP. That undercuts the V12 by $64,528, and both cars open for pre-order on 27 August.
Pricing for the updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is $517,900 MRLP for the new S 580 4MATIC. S 680 4MATIC asks $582,428 MRLP. Prices include GST and luxury car tax, but no on-roads on-roads. Registration, stamp duty, CTP, and dealer delivery are all extra. Full prices can be configured on all Australian auto brand websites, just in case you’re wondering.
Pre-orders open at Australian dealerships on 27 August, and cars are expected here in the first quarter of 2027. Mercedes-Benz describes it as the most extensive update in Mercedes-Maybach S-Class history. We covered the global reveal of this update in July. The Australian range and pricing are as follows.

Where the $64,528 Goes
S 580 4MATIC uses the M177 EVO twin-turbo V8 petrol with a 48-volt system and an integrated starter-generator. It makes 395kW/750Nm, with a further 17kW/205Nm on tap from the starter-generator. Drive goes through the 9G-TRONIC automatic and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, and 0-100km/h takes 4.5 seconds.
S 680 4MATIC keeps the M279, a handcrafted 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 with no 48v on board. It makes 463kW/900Nm through the same 9G-TRONIC and the same 4MATIC all-wheel drive. It also takes 4.5 seconds to 100km/h. So the V12 has 68kW/150Nm more than the V8 and reaches the same speed in the same time. The extra $64,528 buys 4 more cylinders and the magic hands that built them.
Options are priced the same for both cars. First-Class Package converts the rear into a 4-seat cabin. It uses individual seats split by an extended centre console., gains a refrigerated compartment with matching champagne flutes. Night Series backs out the Maybach emblems with high-gloss black. Prices for both, and for the MANUFAKTUR exterior and upholstery finishes, are in the table below.
MB.OS Reaches the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class
This is the first Mercedes-Maybach S-Class to use MB.OS. It brings 4th-generation MBUX in a Maybach-specific design, plus over-the-air updates across vehicle functions through Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud. MBUX Superscreen is standard, so a 14.4-inch central touchscreen and a front passenger display run under a single sheet of glass. The dials are rose gold, against a gold, rose gold, and black backdrop. Zero Layer is new, and so are MBUX Surround Navigation with real-time visualisation, an updated MBUX Virtual Assistant, biometric authentication, and multiple user profiles.
MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment is standard in the back, a pair of 13.1-inch displays with individually configurable remote controls and integrated cameras for video calls. Climate and blinds are controlled from the rear seat too, as is the entertainment. Digital Vent Control adjusts airflow to the chosen ventilation setting. AIR BALANCE electric filtration refreshes the cabin air about every 90 seconds. Heated front seat belts are standard for the first time, warming to 44 degrees Celsius. There’s steering wheel heating too, plus heated front and rear armrests.
Burmester High-End 4D surround sound with Dolby Atmos is standard, using 31 speakers, 8 seat-integrated exciters, and 1,610 watts. Exciter intensity is adjustable per seat.
The Suspension Remembers Speed Bumps
Rear-axle steering is standard at 4.5 degrees, and a 10-degree system is optional via subscription, but AIRMATIC is standard on both cars. S 580 also gets E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL, with damping that adapts ahead of the road. Oddly, the cheaper Maybach has the cleverer suspension. Extra insulation goes in against noise and vibration, and DYNAMIC SELECT gains a dedicated MAYBACH mode built around ride comfort.
Speed bumps get their own arrangement. The car’s sensors detect them and the data stays in Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud for up to 14 days. The next equipped Mercedes-Benz or Mercedes-Maybach to reach that bump can then set its suspension before it gets there. It works through Car-to-X and needs a Mercedes me ID. An owner who’d rather not contribute can switch the data transfer off in the app or the portal.
A Bigger Grille and 600 Metres of High Beam
DIGITAL LIGHT moves to a new micro-LED generation with a new high-performance chip. The high-resolution illumination field is about 40% larger than the outgoing system, and high beam reaches up to 600 metres. The grille is 20% bigger and now has an illuminated Maybach wordmark inside the frame, a first for the model. Front and rear styling is revised, the headlamps have rose gold accents, and the tail lamp graphics are redesigned. New 20-inch Maybach forged wheels use a ball-bearing hub that keeps the Mercedes-Benz star upright while the wheel turns.
Mercedes-Maybach S-Class also gets MB.DRIVE, which puts the driving and parking functions on a single platform under MB.OS, with Nvidia hardware underneath. Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC Plus, Active Steering Assist Plus, and Active Lane Change Assist Plus handle the driving. Active Lane Keeping Assist and Emergency Stop Assist come with them. Parking Assist with a 360-degree camera, PARKTRONIC, a reverse manoeuvring function, and a rim protection warning cover the kerbs. An enhanced camera and radar sensor suite feeds all of it.
MANUFAKTUR is why almost none of these cars look exactly alike. Mercedes-Benz reckons nearly every Mercedes-Maybach S-Class built worldwide is individually configured through the program, and Beech Brown joins the interior colour list. The standard S-Class was priced earlier this month, and the Maybach pair today.
For $517,900 the S 580 4MATIC has the smarter damping, the same 4.5-second claim, and every screen and speaker fitted to the V12 car. The $64,528 on top of it buys 12 hand-built cylinders.
